I hate it due to the changes they madeFirst the Review is for the POOR design. Set up is a pain due to ports being in the front. works as intended. This model of SE3008 had a version 1 and a version 2. Version 1 had the Ethernet ports in the back and lights on the front and Version 2 has the ethernet ports in the front. These are desktop models and not rack mount models and so when you have it on the desk instead of the wires going from the back to the side or back of your desk they are in front and causes you to pull the ethernet cords to the front and 1. it just looks tacky and 2. it wants to pull the switch off the desk. Version 2 was a huge mistake in the design. Having ports in the front are great if it is mounted in a rack. These are not.

The Linksys SE3008 v2 Switch. The Linksys SE3008 v2 is a great switch. The small size lets it fit into tight spaces and is easy to mount on a wall.

Messed up the original DesignI have an LSG-108. Power, and Ethernet connectors in back. Activity LEDs on front. Sits on the desk nicely. All cables on the back side. That evidently no longer exists. Now, to see activity lights, you have to be looking at Ethernet cables. Or, you see no lights, and the power cord is awkardly in front, while all the Ethernet cables are in back. I hate the new design for home-desktop use. I love Linksys devices, but this was a mistake to change this.

Just installed and it works...butJust installed and it works. Sadly the installation guide does not say "Port 1 of router should be connected to Port 1 of Switch" for it to work. I spent a long hour with the tech before I was told this. The minute I did that it worked and has been fine so far (about a few hours) . Will post update after seeing how it handles the "high usage I have"
The setup got poor due to instruction in quick guide. Otherwise easy install - plug power, plug internet cables (port 1 to port 1) and you are ready to go.

Linksys VelopSetting this is very easy and fast. Coverage is excellent everywhere. Resetting all of my WiFi devices was time consuming. Excellent price from Costco.
Greetings: The IP camera I'm going to use requires an Ethernet switch that is 802.3af compliant (48V) and supports active mode. That isn't this switch is it?
Asked by: Anonymous
The switch does not provide POE support, so it will not work with that device.

What does it mean when the LED next to a RJ45 port is orange instead of green? This is not mentioned in the manual.
Asked by: prawlings1
Hi, prawlings1. A solid orange LED light status on the RJ45 port of the Linksys SE3008 would mean 10 / 100 Mbps speed link up but if it is flashing orange then 10 / 100 Mbps speed Ethernet traffic. You can check out this link for your reference: https://bit.ly/3NeV8mf

does the model SE3008 do port mirroring? That is can I monitor the traffic on say port 2 and make a pcap of it on port 4?
Asked by: jeff
Hi, jeff. No, no configuration is available such as port mirroring for the Linksys SE3008 as it is an unmanaged switch. What you need is a manageable switch, you may want to check out this link: https://bit.ly/33D3zXl.

Does my SE3008 support DLR topology? I.E. Ring, Star, Daisy Chain
Asked by: JdwoodOh
Hi JdwoodOh. You may need some redundancy settings for this, and since the Linksys SE3008 is an unmanaged switch, this setup may not be possible.

I own the Linksys MX10 Velop AX Whole Home WiFi 6 System, I can use the 8 port switch to plug in all my network cables and plug the velop into two of the ports right? Thank you!
Asked by: Chad
Hi, Chad. If you have no other router in the network, one Velop node should be plugged into the modem, then, you can connect the switch into one of the parent node’s Ethernet ports. The child node can then be plugged into the Ethernet port of the switch if you want a wired configuration. Here’s a reference: https://www.linksys.com/us/support-article/?articleNum=243552
