SPI Firewall Protection is a router’s firewall that protects your Internet connection against malicious Internet traffic and Denial of Service (DoS) type of attack. It does not protect the computer against malicious Wi-Fi traffic like the firewall installed in your computer.
The following steps will guide you on how to enable or disable your SPI Firewall.
Access the router’s web-based setup page. For instructions, click here.
NOTE: If you are using a Mac computer to access the router’s web-based setup page, click here.
Click on the Firewall sub-tab.
Click the Enable radio button to enable your SPI Firewall Protection.
NOTE: Enabling SPI Firewall will block the Denial of Service (DoS) attacks. A DoS attack does not attempt to steal data or damage your computers, but it overloads your Internet connection so you cannot use it.
For newer Linksys routers, you have the option to enable IPv6 and IPv4 SPI Firewall Protection.
Click Save Settings for the changes to take effect.
NOTE: Click Disable if you do not wish to use the SPI Firewall Protection.
For newer Linksys routers, you have the option to disable IPv6 and IPv4 SPI Firewall Protection.
