Your Valet hotspot is a networking device that lets you access the Internet using a laptop or desktop computer, gaming device, or phone in your home. The Linksys Connect software not only allows you to setup your Valet hotspot for your Internet connection but also lets you connect other devices to your wireless network.
This article will guide you on how to connect your iPod® to your Valet hotspot using Linksys Connect. To do this, follow the steps below:
QUICK TIP: This article assumes that you’ve already installed Linksys Connect to your Valet hotspot. If you haven’t done this yet, click here. Valet is currently available in the U.S. and Canada only.
NOTE: The steps mentioned below are also applicable for your Apple devices such as iPhone®.
Launch Linksys Connect on your computer.
NOTE: To launch Linksys Connect on a Windows computer, go to Start > All Programs > Linksys Connect. To launch Linksys Connect on a Mac computer, navigate to the Applications folder in Go, and then start Linksys Connect. For detailed instructions how to launch Linksys Connect on a Windows or Mac computer, click here.
Once the main Linksys Connect page appears, select Computers and devices.
Select Other devices then click Next.
Once the Connecting a device window appears, take note of your wireless settings.
You may now proceed and connect your iPod® to your Valet hotspot.
On your iPod®, go to Settings and enable the Wi-Fi feature by tapping the arrow and select ON.
On the Wi-Fi Networks screen, tap the wireless network name or SSID of your wireless network.
NOTE: In this example, your SSID is “Cco00016”.
NOTE: Ensure that the device is within 10 feet of the hotspot when connecting for the first time for a good connection.
Enter your Valet hotspot Password or network key and tap Join.
NOTE: Ensure to type the password or network key in the correct case since it is case-sensitive.
NOTE: To know how to change your wireless network name and password using Linksys Connect, click here.
When your iPod® has successfully connected to the network, you can go back to the Linksys Connect screen and name your device. Click Finish.
Once your device has joined the Wi-Fi network manually, it automatically joins the network whenever it is within its range.
Launch a browser on your iPod® and you should now be able to go online.
IMPORTANT: If all the other devices in your network are already working and you are not able to connect another device to the network successfully, do not reset your Valet hotpot as this will cause the other devices to lose their wireless connection. In the event that your Valet hotpot has been reset, click here.
