This article will guide you about router’s username and password.
The username and password requested by Pure Networks software during installation or whenever you press Change Wireless Protection, click here or add a device, for instructions, click here particularly refers to the username and/or password for your router. This is different from your Internet account password, encryption key, or the account password on your computer.
Pure Networks software will only be able to accept the username/password (and access your router settings) if you have a router that is in our supported list. You may click here to see the list of supported routers.
If your router firmware is not currently supported, then the username and password will not be accepted. In this case, you cannot access the features of the router. If you would like to setup wireless protection, you will need to contact the router manufacturer directly. They can provide you instructions on how to manually setup wireless security through your router.
Your router's password is not sent directly to Pure Networks or to any other entity, so we cannot provide you with those kinds of information. You would need to directly contact your router manufacturer (or your Internet Service Provider or ISP if they provided the router).
Network Magic automatically enters the default username/password for each router. The most common default username is “admin”.
If your router has no username but uses only a password, simply leave the username field blank in the Pure Networks software and enter the router's password in the password field.
If the router username and password were set by your broadband provider/ISP, you can contact their support department to find the correct username and password for your router.
If you changed the username and password of the router and you forgot the correct information, then refer to the user manual for instructions on how to reset the username and/or password to the manufacturer's default. The documentation is usually found on the support website of the router manufacturer.
NOTE: When resetting the router back to its factory defaults, you may need to reconfigure the router.
If you can successfully log into your router manually via the web interface but Pure Networks software still rejects the correct username and password that you entered, you might need to complete these steps to resolve the problem:
Click Start and then click Run.
On the Run field, type in “cmd” and then press Enter.
On the command prompt, type c:\windows\system32, then press Enter.
At the next command prompt, type: regsvr32 winhttp.dll then press Enter.
NOTE: A small window should appear to confirm that the registration has succeeded.
Now using the Setup access to router settings option on the Network Map and enter the router password again.
