How to check and update the Router Password using the Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Account

What is the Router Password?

The Router Password is an administrator password used when accessing the settings and configuration of your router.  You will be asked to enter the Router Password to access the router’s web-based setup page.  The default Router Password is admin.  However, it is recommended that you change the default password to a new and personalized one to ensure that the router is safe from unauthorized access.

QUICK TIP:  You will be prompted to enter a Username and Password if you are accessing the router online.  However, when accessing the router offline, you will only be prompted for a Router Password.
NOTE:  The Router Password is not the wireless network password of your router.  For instructions on how to check your wireless network’s password, click
NOTE:  After running the Linksys Smart Wi-Fi setup wizard, you will be prompted to update your Router and wireless password.
QUICK TIP:  If you forgot your router password, you can perform a hardware reset to restore your router to factory default settings.  Just press and hold the Reset button on the back panel of the Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Router for about 10 seconds then release.
