1.  What is the Linksys AE6000?


The Wireless Mini USB Adapter AC580 Dual Band, AE6000 is an adapter from Linksys which is 802.11ac compliant.  This means that the adapter can achieve Wireless-AC connection speeds when it connects to a Wireless-AC router.  Installing this adapter to your Windows-based desktop computer allows it to connect to wireless networks.  To learn more about the adapter and its features, click here.
 

2.  What are the parts of the adapter?
 

  • USB Plug – Connect this end to any available USB port on your computer.
  • LED – Flashes when there is wireless network activity.
  • Wi-Fi Protected Setupâ„¢ (WPS) button – Press this button and the WPS button on your router or access point to connect your computer to the wireless network.


NOTE:  The drivers must be installed first before using the WPS button.
 

3.  What does the blinking LED indicate?
 

A blinking or flashing LED indicates that there is wireless network activity.

The Linksys AE6000 has a network speed of 430 Mbps because its 802.11ac wireless standard operates at 80 MHz on a single antenna, which can operate at 433 Mbps.  The Linksys AE3000 achieves a maximum network speed of 450 Mbps using 802.11n with 3x3 MIMO antennas.  An advantage of the Linksys AE6000 over the AE3000 would be the capability for 802.11ac wireless protocol.

Yes.  The Linksys AE6000 is capable of WPS.

Yes.  It will work with non Wireless-AC routers or access point because it is also compatible with Wireless-A, B, G and N standards.

TROUBLESHOOTING
 

1.  What should I do if my computer doesn’t recognize the adapter?


Make sure that the adapter is properly inserted into your computer’s USB port and the adapter’s driver has been installed properly.


NOTE:  If your computer still doesn’t recognize the wireless adapter, try plugging it into a different USB port.
 

2.  What should I do if the adapter doesn’t work properly?


One tip is to unplug and re-plug the adapter into the computer’s USB port.  You may also use another USB port.
 

3.  What should I do if my adapter can’t connect to a wireless network?


Here are some troubleshooting tips you can do:
 

  • Check if your adapter can receive the wireless signal of your router.  You may need to move closer to the router to increase the signal received by your adapter.
  • Enter the correct password of the wireless network you are connecting to.
  • Check if the router has the MAC Filtering feature enabled.  If the MAC Filtering feature is enabled, you should first have the MAC address of your adapter added to the MAC Filtering list of the router.
