Creating a Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Account

What are the advantages of having a Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Account?

The Linksys Smart Wi-Fi is a free service bundled with the new Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Routers.  This application allows you to configure your router settings locally or remotely over the Internet.  After setting up the router, you have to create a Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Account which you will need to activate and associate with your router.

Linksys Smart Wi-Fi allows you to access your router, configure and check your home network anywhere as long as there is an active Internet connection.  This service makes it convenient for you to manage your network, since you can do it locally or remotely via web or mobile app.

NOTE:  The Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Account is accessible via web browsers in Windows and Mac®, and iPad®.  For mobile app, it supports Android™ and iOS phones only.

Creating a Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Account

Step 1:
Open a browser and enter “” in the Address bar.

NOTE:  If you see the Log in with your router password screen, click the link provided at the bottom to log in using the Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Account.


Step 2:
Click the button located on the top-right corner of the page.

Step 3:
The Create a Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Account page will appear.  Enter the necessary information in the fields provided. 


QUICK TIP:  If the page doesn’t load properly or looks distorted, i.e., there are no entry fields to type in, refresh the page or try using a different web browser as there might be plug-ins or add-ons that are out-of-date.

Step 4:
Tick the box beside the text I have read and accepted the End User License Agreement, Terms of Service, and Privacy Statement.

NOTE:  Checking the Send me information about Linksys products, services and special offerings box is optional. 


Step 5:

You will receive a notification prompting you to check your email for the activation link.  Proceed below to learn how to activate your Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Account.

Activating and associating the Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Account

Step 1:
Access the email address you used to create the account.  Open the message from Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Mail.

NOTE:  If the message is not found in your Inbox, check the Junk or Spam folders.  If you haven’t received or deleted the message, click here for instructions on how to resend the validation email.


Step 2:
Click the link to activate the Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Account you just created.  This will open a new window that will take you to the Linksys Smart Wi-Fi page


Step 3:
Click .

Step 4:
The login page of the Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Account will appear.  Enter your account’s Email Address and Password then, click Sign In.


Step 5:
Associate your router to your account by entering your Router Password in the space provided.  Click Ok.


  1. The Router Password is set to admin by default.  However, if you changed it, then use the current router password instead.
  2. Router association can only be done when you're currently connected to your home network.  Associating your account remotely is not possible.
