Linksys Cloud Manager 2.0 – Configuring a Policy for clients

With the Linksys Cloud Manager 2.0, you can check and manage how clients are connected to a network in the Clients page as well as configure a policy for a client.
 
How to access Clients
 
Step 1:
Log in to Linksys Cloud Manager.  For instructions, click 
here.

Step 2:
Select an organization.

Step 3:
From the Networks tab, select a network, click on the ellipsis and then click on Clients.

You will land on the Clients page.

Step 1:
From the  Clients page, select a client, click on its ellipsis, and click on Policy.

Step 2:
You can select either:
 
  • Network wide - This will apply the same policy to all the SSIDs in the Network and LAN ports.
  • Customized per SSID - Select this option to apply a different policy per SSID.

Step 3:
Select a policy that you want to set for a client.
 
  • Default - No custom restrictions.  By default, every client is set as a default policy.
  • Blocked - No network access allowed.
  • Unrestricted - Unrestricted accessto the network.  No bandwidth limitations or splash page.
  • New policy - Create a new policy with to set bandwidth limitations or bypass the splash page.
 
Step 4:
Click Save.

How to create a new policy

You can create a new policy from the following:
 
  • On the Settings page > Access Control > New Policy
  • From the Clients page > click the ellipsis > Policy > New Policy
 
Step 1:
From the  Clients page, select a client, click on its ellipsis, and click on Policy.

Step 2:
Click on the Select Policy drop-down arrow and click on New policy.

Step 3:
Configure the policy and click Save.

Setting Description
Name Create a name for your policy.
Short description Enter a description of the policy (optional).
Client access Select Allowed or Blocked.
Bandwidth Limit To set a bandwidth limit choose this option and adjust the setting or just leave it on Use default SSID behaviour to follow the limitation, if any, configured on the SSID.

Bypass splash page


 
 To bypass the splash page (if one is configured for the SSID) use this option.

Step 4:
After the new policy is created, it will appear on the list (e.g., Bdwth Limit).

There are several ways to do this:
 
  • From the Clients page > select a client > click on the ellipsis > Policy
  • From the Details page in Clients > click on Change Policy

 

Step 1:
From the  Clients page, select a client, click on its ellipsis, and click on Policy.

Step 2:
Select a new policy or create a new one.

Step 3:
Click Save.  Your new policy has been set.
