Connecting the Linksys Wireless-N Ethernet bridge or media connector to PS3™ using Wireless-N capabilities

A Sony PlayStation® 3 (PS3™) can wirelessly connect to a network using its built-in Wireless-G adapter.  If your router has Wireless-N capabilities, you may improve your wireless gaming experience by pairing your PS3™ with a Linksys Wireless-N Ethernet bridge or Linksys media connector that will act as its wireless receiver.

Follow the steps below to learn how to connect the Linksys Wireless-N Ethernet bridge or media connector using Wireless-N capabilities:

Connecting the bridge to the PS3™

QUICK TIP:  To confirm a selection, press the X button on your PS3™ controller.  For units distributed in other areas, press the O button for confirmation.

Step 1:
Connect an Ethernet cable from your wireless bridge or media connector into the Ethernet port of the PS3™.  Plug in the bridge or media connector’s power cable then power ON the PS3™.

NOTE:  A Linksys WES610N is used in this example.

Step 2:
On the PS3™’s main menu screen, go to Settings > Network Settings.

IMPORTANT:  Make sure you have an active Internet connection before you continue with the next step.

Step 3:
Select Internet Connection.

Step 4:
Select Internet Connection Settings.

NOTE:  If you receive an alert that the PS3™ will be disconnected if you perform Internet connection settings, select Yes.

Step 5:
Select Easy for the setting method.

NOTE:  Taking the Easy setup option for your Internet connection is recommended.

Step 6:
Select Automatic for the IP Address Setting.

Step 7:
Select Do Not Set when the PS3™ asks you to set a DHCP host name.

Step 8:
Select Automatic for DNS Setting.

Step 9:
Select Automatic for MTU.

Step 10:
Select Do Not Use for Proxy Server.

Step 11:
Select Enable for UPnP.

Step 12:
Once the Settings List menu appears, press the X button on your remote to save your settings.

Step 13:
Select Test Connection.

The Internet Connection Test screen similar to the one below will then appear to show that the connection test has been completed.

Step 14:
Test the connection using an Internet browser.  Go back to the main PS3™ menu then select Network > Internet Browser.

Step 15:
Go to a website and check if its page loads successfully.

Once the page loads, it means that your Linksys bridge or media connector has been successfully configured and is now connected wirelessly.

TIPS:  For the best wireless performance, make sure you do the following:

       •    Have the Linksys Wireless-N Ethernet bridge or media connector placed as high as possible and away from the TV as far as possible.  Also, placing the bridge or media connector away from the microwave or phone will improve your wireless signal.

       •    Make sure the wireless router is placed as high as possible to avoid any signal interference.
