Overview
Linksys gateways have a built-in web-based setup page that allows users to customize and set up advanced settings. This feature may be used to easily check, configure and modify settings on the router.
QUICK TIP: Before you begin, make sure that the gateway is powered ON and the computer is wired to one of the Ethernet ports at the back of the gateway (1, 2, 3 or 4).
Accessing the Linksys gateway’s web-based setup page
Step 1:
Open a web browser such as Internet Explorer. On the Address bar, enter the gateway’s IP address then press [Enter]. The default IP address 192.168.1.1 is used by most Linksys gateways.
The Linksys gateway’s IP address can be changed by:
- Running the gateway’s Setup CD.
- Changing it from the gateway’s web-based setup page.
If you forgot the gateway’s IP address you can:
- Check the gateway's IP address. For instructions on how to do this, click here.
- Press and hold the Reset button at the back of the gateway for 10 seconds. This procedure will reset your gateway to factory defaults.
Step 2:
An authentication window will prompt you for a User name and Password. Enter the default User name and Password which is “admin” then click OK.
NOTE: If the User name and Password of the gateway has been changed, use it to log in to the web-based setup page. Reset the gateway to factory default settings if you have forgotten the login credentials.
