- Configuring the Wireless Multimedia (WMM) settings to Video
Configuring the Wireless Multimedia (WMM) to Video prioritizes the packets for the video access mode. This allows traffic for video streaming applications to get a higher priority.
NOTE: These settings should only be configured by advanced users as incorrect settings can reduce wireless performance.
Follow the instructions below to learn how to configure the Wireless Multimedia (WMM) settings for video packets:
Access the Linksys Dual-Band N Entertainment Bridge web-based setup page. To learn how, click here.
On the Setup page, click the Wireless tab then click the WMM sub-tab.
Select Video in the Access Mode drop-down menu and fill in the information on the screen.
The WMM Video screen allows you to set the following information:
Use Aggregation - This option defines whether or not the Media Access Control (MAC) layer will set up an Add Block Acknowledgement (ADDBA) session. The default value is Yes. Select No to disable this option.
Accept Aggregation - This option defines whether or not the MAC layer will accept an ADDBA request. The default value is Yes. Select No to disable this option.
Max. Number of Packets in Aggregation - This option defines the maximum number of packets (sub-frames) in the aggregate. The range is 0 to 7. The default value is 7.
Max. Aggregation Size - This option defines the maximum size of the aggregate (in bytes). The range is 0 to 16000. The default value is 12000.
Timeout Internal - This option defines the timeout period in which the aggregate should be closed with a “closing condition” before it is closed by the timer. The range is 0 to 100 ms. The default value is 3.
Min. Size of Packet in Aggregation - This option defines the minimum size (in bytes) of packets to be accumulated in the aggregate. The range is 0 to 1500. The default value is 10.
ADDBA Timeout - This option defines the duration after which the ADDBA setup is terminated, if there are no frame exchanges within this duration by the Block Acknowledgement (ACK) agreement. The range is 0 to 65535 ms. The default value is 0, which disables the timeout.
Aggregation Window Size - This option defines the maximum number of packets transmitted without getting ACKs. The range is 0 to 64. The default value is 64.
Click Save Settings to apply your changes. If you don’t want to change your Wireless Multimedia (WMM) settings, click Cancel Changes.
IMPORTANT: There may be instances wherein the changes made for the Access Mode do not apply. For example, after changing the Access Mode to Best Effort and saving the changes, the field still shows Background.
To resolve this, you need to upgrade the firmware of your device. Upgrading fixes all the bug issues encountered by your current firmware version. Click on the links below to learn how to download and upgrade your device’s firmware.
