1. What is the Linksys WAG200G Wireless-G ADSL2+ Gateway?

The Linksys WAG200G Wireless-G ADSL+2 Gateway lets you access the Internet via a wireless connection or through one of its four (4) switched ports.  You can also use the gateway to share resources, including computers.

NOTE:  The default IP Address of the gateway is 192.168.1.1.  The default username and password is admin.

7. Does the gateway support IPX or AppleTalk®?

No.  TCP/IP is the only protocol standard for the Internet and has become the global standard for communications.  Other protocols such as IPX, a NetWare communications protocol used only to route messages from one node to another, and AppleTalk, a communications protocol used in Apple® and Macintosh® networks, can be used for LAN-to-LAN connections.  These protocols, however, cannot connect to a LAN from the Internet.

8. Does the gateway support any operating system other than Windows® 98SE, Windows ME, Windows 2000 or Windows XP?

Yes.  However, Linksys has limited technical support for setup, configuration or troubleshooting of any non-Windows® operating systems.

9. Will the gateway function in a Macintosh environment?

Yes.  The gateway's web-based setup page is accessible through Safari®, Internet Explorer® 4.0 or higher, Netscape Navigator® 4.0 or higher, Mozilla Firefox®, and Google Chrome™ Internet browsers for Mac® computers.

10. What levels and types of wireless security does the Linksys WAG200G support?

It supports 64/128 bit WEP, WPA™-Personal and WPA (Personal and Mixed).  The gateway also supports Wireless Network Access or Wireless MAC Filter.

11. How many computers can you set on the MAC Address List on the Linksys WAG200G?

You can specify 20 computers on the MAC Address List.

12. Can the gateway act as my DHCP server?

Yes.  The gateway has a built-in DHCP server functionality.

13. Can you back up and restore settings on the Linksys WAG200G?

Yes.

Yes.   The gateway supports two Dynamic Domain Name System (DDNS) namely DynDNS.org and TZO.org.

Yes.  It is a built-in feature that the gateway automatically enables.  It also supports PPPoE Passthrough, PPTP Passthrough, and L2TP Passthrough.

16. Does the gateway support QoS?

Yes.  Quality of Service (QoS) is a feature that allows you to set priority on the applications available.

Yes.

The firmware version 1.01.09 (ETSI) is available for download and you can follow the steps below to obtain it:

Step 1:
Go to the Linksys Support Site.

Step 2:
Enter WAG200G in the Search Support field.

Step 3:
Click the Downloads tab and download the firmware.

20. How do I upgrade the firmware on the Linksys WAG200G?

Step 1:
Open the gateway's web-based setup page.

Step 2:
Enter username and password when prompted.

NOTE:  The default IP Address of the gateway is 192.168.1.1.  The default username and password is admin.

Step 3:
Click Administration > Firmware Upgrade.  You should then be able to click Browse and select the firmware upgrade file.

Step 4:
Click Upgrade.

NOTE:  Do not turn OFF the computer or gateway during the upgrade process.  Firmware upgrade should be started only with a wired connection.

21. How do I reset the gateway?

Press and hold the Reset button at the back panel for 10 seconds.  This will reset the gateway to its default settings.

22. What is the power specification of the gateway?

The device operates at 12 VDC, 1 A.

23. What is the IEEE 802.11g standard?

It is one (1) of the IEEE standards for wireless networks.  The 802.11g standard allows wireless networking hardware from different manufacturers to communicate, provided that the hardware complies with the 802.11g standard.  It has a maximum data transfer rate of 54 Mbps and an operating frequency of 2.4 GHz.
