How to set up the Linksys WES610N v2 Media Connector manually

The Linksys Wireless-N Universal Media Connector (WES610N v2) enables you to allow wired devices to receive Internet and network connection wirelessly from your router or access point.

The easiest way to set up the Linksys WES610N and your router or access point is by connecting it through Wi-Fi Protected Setup™ (WPS).  However, there are cases wherein the WPS setup fails.  When this happens, it is best to proceed with manual setup.  Learn how to manually set up your WES610N v2 Media Connector by following the steps below:

IMPORTANT:  Make sure you know the wireless settings of your Linksys router before proceeding with the steps below.  To learn how to check or change your wireless network’s settings using the Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Account, click here.  If you are using a Linksys Wi-Fi Router with the Classic web-based setup page, click here.

NOTE:  This article assumes that your computer is already connected to the WES610N v2 Media Connector using an Ethernet cable.

There are two (2) ways on how to manually set up your Linksys WES610N v2 Media Connector:

Entering the basic manual settings

Step 1:
Access the media connector’s web-based setup page.  To learn how to do this, click here.

Step 2:
Click the Wireless tab to open the Basic Wireless Settings page.

Step 3:
Click on the Manual radio button.

Step 4:
Enter your router’s wireless Network Name (SSID) in the provided field.

Step 5:
Select your network’s Security Mode from the drop-down menu.

QUICK TIP:  You may skip Steps 6-7 if your wireless network is unsecured.

NOTE:  In this example, WPA2 Personal is used.

Step 6:
Enter the wireless network Passphrase in the provided field.

Step 7:
Click Save Settings.

The Linksys WES610N v2 Media Connector should now be connected to your wireless network.

Though the Wireless Network Site Survey feature

Step 1:
Access the media connector’s web-based setup page.  To learn how to do this, click here.

Step 2:
Click the Wireless tab to open the Basic Wireless Settings page.

Step 3:
Click on the Wireless Network Site Survey sub-tab.

Step 4:
Select your router’s wireless Network Name (SSID) from the list by clicking on its corresponding radio button.

 

Step 5:
Click Connect.

QUICK TIP:  You may skip Steps 6-7 if your wireless network is unsecured.

Step 6:
Select your router’s wireless Encryption.

Step 7:
Enter the wireless network password in the Passphrase field.

Step 8:
Click Connect.

The Linksys WES610N v2 Media Connector should now be connected to your wireless network.
