How to use the Packet Capture feature on your Linksys Wireless-AC Access Point

The Packet Capture feature of your Linksys Wireless-AC Access Point’s web-based setup page is used to capture and store packets received and transmitted by the access point based on one specified network interface.  The network interface can be Wireless Radio, SSID or Ethernet.

The steps below will guide you on how to enable this feature:

Step 1:
Access your Linksys Wireless-AC Access Point’s web-based setup page.  For instructions, click here.

Step 2:
Under the Maintenance tab, click Diagnostics > Packet Capture.

Step 3:
Select the desired network interface from the dropdown list.  The interface can be Wireless Radio, SSID or Ethernet.

Step 4:
Click Start Capture to begin.  You will be asked to specify a local file to store the packets.

NOTE:  You have to save the file to a location.  It will continue to run until you have decided to stop the capture.

Step 5:
Click Stop Capture to stop.

QUICK TIP:  The file is in .pcap format.  You will need additional software/app to analyze the packet such as Wireshark.
