The Dynamic Domain Name System (DDNS) is a premium service that assigns your device a fixed domain name even though you are using a dynamic Internet IP Address.
Why do you need it?
DDNS is a good fit for users who would like to access their networks remotely, set up a server behind the router, or host their own website, yet retain the default Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) configuration of the router instead of using a static IP Address.
The DHCP is a router function that changes the IP Address of connected devices periodically. This makes the network inaccessible to hackers or intruders since they do not know what the network’s IP Address is at any given time, but the owner of the network can implement a DDNS service so that he/she can access the network anytime.
To know how to set up a DDNS service, follow the procedure below:

Log in to your Linksys cloud account. For instructions, click here.
On the Navigation pane under Router Settings, click Security.
On the Security screen, click on the Apps and Gaming tab.
Select your provider from the drop down menu. In this example, we will use the DynDNS.org option.
Fill in the fields for Username, Password, and Host name. You can refer to your DynDNS.org account for this. Make sure to also select the current System on how you generate the IP Address, whether it is Dynamic, Static or Custom. Once done, click the Update button.
Once you see the Success status, you have successfully implemented DDNS service on your router. Click the Apply button to save all changes and click Ok to exit.
Make sure that you have entered the values of your DDNS account information correctly. The router will not be able to successfully link to the DDNS service if there is any incorrect information on the account details.
Expanding your network
Most DDNS users connect to their network remotely to control their connected computers and devices. A lot of times DDNS is implemented to access a home monitoring camera like the Linksys WVC80N.
