Setting up the Linksys WRT32X for Etisalat

There are two ways to set up the Linksys WRT32X AC3200 Dual-Band Wi-Fi Gaming Router with Killer Prioritization Engine with Etisalat Plug and Play.

1.  By Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet (PPPoE) connection

Remove the Etisalat router and connect the Linksys WRT32X.  While this is the recommended connection option, it can be time-consuming due to important information hidden in the Etisalat router that you will need to connect your Linksys WRT32X to the internet.  For step-by-step instructions, click here.

NOTE:  Before disconnecting your Etisalat router, make sure to record the PPPoE account information you will need to connect to the internet on your Linksys WRT32X.

2.  By connecting the Linksys WRT32X to the Etisalat router

Connect the Linksys WRT32X to your existing Etisalat router and set it up normally.  This is not the recommended option because it can create a scenario known as double NAT.  While double NAT doesn’t affect simple connection to the internet for basic functions – like using a browser, email, social media, etc., – it can interfere with playing online games, connecting to a Virtual Private Network (VPN), and other activities that require manual port forwarding or Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) set up.  To know more, click here.

If you don’t know the Password, contact Etisalat for the information.  If your Vlan Id is masked (represented by asterisks), you might have to try a series of numbers until one works in Step 5.

Step 2:
Unplug the Etisalat router and disconnect it from your modem and other connected devices.

Step 3:
Replace the old router with your Linksys WRT32X.  Open a web browser on your computer or mobile device and enter “http://myrouter.local” in the Address bar and press [Enter].  Follow the Quick Start Guide for wiring instructions and launch the setup wizard.

NOTE:  You can also use "192.168.1.1" (the default IP address of the Linksys WRT32x).

NOTE:  If your VLAN ID was masked (represented by asterisks), you might have to try a series of numbers until one works.  Common VLAN IDs are 10, 20, 21, 24, 25, 27 and 30.

Step 6:
Tap Next.

Step 7:
Restart your Linksys WRT32X.  If the internet indicator light on the front of your Linksys WRT32X stops blinking and is solid blue, the VLAN ID you entered was correct and you can connect to your Wi-Fi and access the internet.

NOTE:  If the internet indicator light on the front of your Linksys WRT32X is orange (solid or blinking), it means you entered an incorrect VLAN ID.  Open a web browser and enter http://myrouter.local” in the Address bar and then press [Enter].  Go to Advanced Settings > Internet Connection Settings and try a different VLAN ID.  Tap Save to save your settings.  If you try all of the values suggested above and none of them work, try other values between 10 and 30.  Remember to restart the router after saving each new VLAN ID.
