Accessing the web-based setup page of the Linksys Small Business Cameras

Accessing the web-based setup page of your Linksys Small Business Camera may be required for advanced configuration and settings.  Make sure that you have the following before proceeding with the steps below:
  1. Camera IP Address – If there is no DHCP server detected in the network, the Camera IP Address will default to 192.168.1.254.  The camera is a DHCP client, when a DHCP server is detected it will obtain an IP address from the DHCP Server in the network.  You can check the DHCP Client table of your router or server for the IP address of the camera.  To learn how, click here.
  2. Ethernet Cable
  3. Internet Explorer (IE) 9 or later – Viewing live video (H264/MPEG4) is only supported on IE since it requires ActiveX component to view.
  • Internet Explorer 9 – 10
    • Need to use IE to view H264/MPEG4
    • Need to install Active X in order to see control panel for camera
    • Once Active X is installed, if you need to reinstall the Active x or verify that it’s installed, it will appear in Control Panel Program as “Linksys Media Control Embedded
  • Internet Explorer 11
    • IE11 will not prompt to install Active X, you must add the IP address of the camera to the Compatibility View Settings.  On your IE browser, click on Tools, select Compatibility View Settings then add the IP address of the camera in the Add this website field.
    • If Active X is not installed, you will only have Snapshot options in the Channels drop down menu with no control panel buttons.
    • If Active X is installed, add the camera’s IP address to the compatibility list in IE.
Follow the steps below to access the web-based setup page of the Linksys SMB Cameras.

Step 1:
Make sure the camera ON.

NOTE:  The Linksys SMB Cameras are Power over Ethernet (PoE) cameras.  If you don’t have a PoE switch or injector, you will need to buy and connect a DC 12V 1A power supply to power them ON.

Step 2:
Open Internet Explorer 9 or later and enter the IP address of the camera.

Step 3:
A new window will prompt for a User name and Password.  Enter “admin” in the User name and Password fields then click OK.  If you have changed these settings, enter the new values instead.

Once the Setup page is up, you can now start checking or configuring the settings of the camera.

NOTE:  Live viewing on non-IE browsers does not have the same control features as IE.  Only IE supports ActiveX and live video streaming.  The controls you see in IE will not display in non-IE browsers.  However, you can still change the settings on the Configuration page.
