Disabling firewall settings in a Mac OS X® 10.6 Snow Leopard and Mac OS X® 10.5 Leopard

The built-in firewall on your Mac® computer may prevent the Linksys Connect software from setting up your Linksys Wireless-N router successfully.  To resolve this, it is recommended that you temporarily disable your computer's firewall.  This article will show you how to disable the firewall on a Mac OS X® 10.6: Snow Leopard and Mac OS X® 10.5 Leopard.
 
i.         OS X Snow Leopard 
ii.        OS X Leopard 
 
 
Step 1:
Click the Apple icon at the top-left of the screen and select System Preferences.
 
Step 2:
Select Security under the Personal section.
 
Step 3:
Click the Firewall button.
 
Step 4:
Click Start or Stop to enable or disable the firewall, respectively.

OS X Leopard 

 
Step 1:
Click the Apple icon at the top-left of the screen and select System Preferences.
 
Step 2:
Select Security under the Personal section.
 
Step 3:
Click the Firewall button.
 
Step 4:
Select any of the following options: 
  • Set access for specific services and applications is the best choice for most users; it will block most incoming connections, but allows you to make exceptions for trusted services and applications.
  • Allow only essential services activates the firewall in its strictest mode.
  • Allow all incoming connections deactivates the firewall.
