Setting up the Linksys AE6000 Wireless-AC USB Adapter using the Setup Wizard

Setting up the Linksys AE6000 Wireless-AC Mini USB Adapter is very easy using the Setup Wizard that comes with the CD.  You just need to run the Setup Wizard and follow the on-screen instructions.  Read on for more information on how to go about with the setup.
 
NOTE:  If you have lost or misplaced the setup CD that came with your Linksys adapter, you may download the Setup Wizard by visiting the
Linksys AE6000 product support page.
 
Before the installation, check the minimum system requirements for your computer:
  • A computer with a CD or DVD drive
  • An available USB 2.0 port
  • A computer with Windows® XP, Windows Vista® , Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 10 operating system 
Warning!  Windows XP and Vista are no longer supported by Microsoft®.  As mentioned in Microsoft support page online, End of Support refers to the date when Microsoft no longer provides automatic fixes, updates or online technical assistance.  This is the time to make sure you have the latest available update or service pack installed in your computer.  Without Microsoft support, you will no longer receive security updates that can help protect your computer from harmful viruses, spyware, and other malicious software that can steal your personal information.  For more information click on the following links:

The supported Windows Operating Systems of the Setup Wizard are Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10.  If you would like to use the Linksys AE6000 adapter on your Windows Vista or XP computer, you can download the appropriate drivers here.


Step 1:
Insert the setup CD on your computer’s CD or DVD drive. 
 
NOTE:  If your computer does not have a CD or DVD drive, you have the option to manually install the Linksys adapter.  Click
here for more instructions.

Step 2:
When the AutoPlay window appears, select the Set up your Linksys Adapter option.
 
NOTE:  If the AutoPlay window does not appear, double-click Computer then double-click the Linksys Adapter setup  icon.
 
Step 3:
Read the End User License Agreement then check the box beside the text I have read and accept the terms of the End User License Agreement.  Click Next > to proceed.

 
 
Step 4:

Plug in your wireless adapter into a USB port on your computer.  The computer should detect the adapter automatically.

 
 
NOTE:  Once the computer has detected the adapter, it will automatically scan for networks.

 
 
Step 5:
Select your Wireless Network Name then click Next >.

 
 
Step 6:
Enter the password for your Wi-Fi network then click Next >.

 
 
NOTE:  Wait while the adapter tries to connect to the network.

 
 
Step 7:
A message confirming that the adapter has been successfully set up will appear.  Click Close.
 
 
Extending the range of your Wi-Fi network
