- Clearing the cache of the Safari® browser in a Mac® computer
A cache contains the saved contents of web pages that you opened. This is useful when you visit websites again as the cache will aid in loading the pages faster. However, files stored in your browser’s cache take up space and clearing it can free up space on your computer.
This article will give you instructions on how to clear the cache of your Safari® browser.
QUICK TIP: You can no longer retrieve the information once you cleared out the cache.
NOTE: The OS X® Mavericks 10.9 Safari browser now blocks cookies and third-party websites from leaving data in your cache, local storage or databases.
Click Go on the Menu bar, then select Computer.
On the window that opens, click the Applications option found on the side bar.
NOTE: Alternatively, you can also click the to find the Applications folder.
On the Menu bar, click Develop then select the Empty Caches option.
NOTE: By default, the Develop button on the latest Safari browser is not shown as an option. To learn how to enable it, click here.
