3. How do I reset the Linksys Wi-Fi Router, E1700 to factory defaults?

There are two (2) ways in resetting the Linksys Wi-Fi Router, E1700 to factory defaults:
  • Press and hold the Reset button located at the bottom of your router for 10 seconds
     
  • Log in to the router’s web-based setup page then go to Administration > Factory Defaults > Restore Factory Defaults

4. Where are the LEDs, Reset button and Wi-Fi Protected Setup™ (WPS) button located?

The Reset button is located at the bottom of the router.  The LEDs and Wi-Fi Protected Setup™ (WPS) button are at the back of the router.
 
5. How many USB ports does the Linksys Wi-Fi Router, E1700 have?
 
The Linksys Wi-Fi Router, E1700 does not have a USB port.

1. How do I install the Linksys Wi-Fi Router, E1700?
 
The Linksys Wi-Fi Router, E1700 can be installed using the Linksys Connect software, also known as Linksys Connect software.  To learn how, click here.  You can also set up the router manually through the web-based setup page.  For Cable connection, click here.  For DSL connection, click here.  If you are using a Static IP from your Internet Service Provider (ISP), click here.
 
2. Can I connect a printer to the Linksys Wi-Fi Router, E1700 using Linksys Connect?

3. What is the default IP address, Username and Password used to log in to the Linksys Wi-Fi Router, E1700’s web-based setup page?

The default IP address of Linksys Wi-Fi Router, E1700 is 192.168.1.1.  Leave the Username blank and “admin” is the default password.
 
NOTE:  If the router is configured using the Linksys Connect software, the new wireless security key will also be the router's password.  To change the router's password or wireless security key using Linksys Connect, click here.

The default wireless network name of the Linksys Wi-Fi Router, E1700 is Linksysxxxxx

NOTE:  The xxxxx is the last five (5) digits of the serial number of the router.
 
2. What wireless security modes do the Linksys Wi-Fi Router, E1700 support?
 
It supports Wi-Fi Protected Access WPA/WPA2 Mixed mode, WPA2/WPA Personal, and Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP).

1. How do I update the firmware of the Linksys Wi-Fi Router, E1700?

1. What is Port Forwarding?
 
Port Forwarding
is a feature that allows the router to open specific ports all the time to let requests from a computer in your network to pass through the Internet, and vice versa without any issues. 
 
2. What is Port Triggering?
 
Port Triggering allows the router to let specific requests from all computers in your network to pass through the Internet, and vice versa without any issues. 
 
3. What is MAC Address Clone and what is it for?

Some Internet Service Providers (ISP), especially Cable companies, require you to register the Media Access Control (MAC) address of the modem, router, or Ethernet adapter of the computer in order to access the Internet.  If you do not wish to re-register the MAC address currently registered with your ISP, you may assign such MAC address to the router using the MAC Address Clone feature.
 
If you want to clone the MAC address of the computer that you are using to configure the router, click the Clone My MAC Address button.  The router will automatically detect your computer’s MAC address, so you do NOT have to call your ISP to change the registered MAC address to the router’s MAC address anymore.  It is recommended that the computer registered with the ISP is used to enable this feature on the router.  To know more on how to configure a Linksys router with Cable Internet Service, click here.
 
4. What DDNS provider does the Linksys Wi-Fi Router, E1700 support?

It supports DynDNS.org and TZO.com.
 
5. What is DMZ and what is it for?

Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) allows one (1) local user to be exposed to the Internet for a special-purpose service such as Internet gaming or video conferencing.  DMZ hosting forwards all the ports at the same time to one (1) computer.  However, Port Forwarding is more secured because it only opens the ports you want to forward, while DMZ hosting opens all the ports of one (1) computer, exposing the computer to the Internet.
 
6. Can the IP address number that was assigned by the DHCP server be more than 253?

No.  The default number is 50.
 
7. Does the Linksys Wi-Fi Router, E1700 support wireless Quality of Service (QoS) and Internet Access Priority QoS?
 
Yes.
 
8. Does the Linksys Wi-Fi Router, E1700 allow users to transmit the log information to a log server?
 
No.
 
9. How many Internet connection types are supported by the Linksys Wi-Fi Router, E1700?
 
The Linksys Wi-Fi Router, E1700 supports seven (7) Internet connection types:  Automatic Configuration – DHCP, Static IP, Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet (PPPoE), Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP), Telstra Cable, L2TP, and Bridge Mode.
 
10. Does it support Guest access and Parental controls?

No.
 
11. Can I turn OFF the rear port lights through the web-based setup page?
 
No.
 
12. Can I check the Internet speed using the Linksys Connect software?

2. How many computers can I connect to my Linksys Wi-Fi Router, E1700 Linksys router?
 
The Linksys router is capable of four (4) wired connections using an Ethernet cord and 32 wireless computers or devices.
 
3. How can I check the devices that are connected to my router? 
 
There are two (2) ways in checking the devices that are connected to your router.  If you have installed the Linksys Connect software, a notification under the Computers and devices section informs you of the number of devices that are connected to the router.
 
However, if you prefer a more detailed list, you may access the DHCP Client Table on your router’s web-based setup page where you can find the IP address, MAC address and other necessary details of the devices connected to your router.  For detailed instructions, click here
 
4. How do I verify my computer’s connection to the network?

There are two (2) ways to verify your computer’s connection to the network.  You can either check your computer’s Internet connectivity or connection to the router.

5. What should I do when I can’t connect to the Internet?
