Connection Loss with WUSB600N

This article explains how to fix connectivity loss issues when using the WUSB600N.

Scenario 1:

My WUSB600N always restarts when I plug in another USB device, such as a storage device, a card reader or camera into another USB port.

Scenario 2:

Each time I open or eject my CD/DVD drive while I am using WUSB600N, it disconnects itself from the network.

To resolve the 2 scenarios, complete the following steps:

i. Removing the Linksys Wireless Monitor
ii. Reinstalling the WUSB600N’s drivers


Removing Linksys Wireless Monitor

Method 1: Uninstalling from All Programs

NOTE:  If you are using Method 1, please continue from Step 4 onwards after Step 1 and Step 2.


Step 1:
Click on the  button, and click on All Programs.

Step 2:
Look for Linksys Dual-Band Wireless-N USB Network Adapter and select Uninstall

 

Method 2: Uninstalling from Control Panel


Step 1:
Click on the button, and select Control Panel.

Step 2:
On the Control Panel menu, double-click on Add or Remove Programs.

Step 3:
When the list is shown, search for Linksys Dual-Band Wireless-N USB Network Adapter and click Change/Remove.

Step 4:
Wait for a while it is preparing to uninstall.

Step 5: 
Click OK to uninstall the device.

Step 6:
Click Finish.


Image

Step 7:
After uninstalling, safely remove the WUSB600N and restart your computer. 
 

Reinstalling WUSB600N's Driver 
 

Step 8:
When your computer restarts, plug in the WUSB600N into the USB port.  When you see the Welcome to the Found New Hardware Wizard, select Yes, this time only.

Step 9: 
Insert the WUSB600N driver CD into the CD-ROM drive and select Install the software automatically (Recommended)

NOTE:  If you do not have, or have lost the CD, you will need to download the driver.  To learn how to download the driver, click here.

NOTE:  Wait while Windows is searching for the driver.

Step 10:
Click Finish.

Step 11:
On your computer desktop, you should be able to see this Wireless networks detected pop-up.  Click the balloon to select your wireless network.

Step 12: 
When you see a list of available wireless network, select the name of the network you would like to connect to and click Connect

Step 13:
Type your Network key in the Network key and Confirm network key fields, then click Connect

You are now successfully connected to the wireless network with your WUSB600N.
