Setting up Security for the PLTE200 and PLTS200 Powerline Devices

The Powerline Utility helps you to set up the security for your PLTE200 and PLTS200 devices.

To know how to set up security on your Powerline devices, follow the steps below:

Setting up Security on the PLTS200

Step 1:
Plug the PLTS200 into any available LAN port on the router using an Ethernet cable.

NOTE:  Both the router and PLTS200 should be powered ON.

Step 2:
Launch the Powerline Utility that comes with the PLTS200.

NOTE:  If it's not yet installed, you'll need to run the setup CD that came with the PLTS200.

Step 3:
In the Powerline Utility window, you should be able to find the PLTS200 device under Local.  You may need to click on the Refresh button to see it.

NOTE:  To ensure you are configuring the right PLTS200 device, make sure the MAC Address listed in the Powerline Utility is the same as the MAC Address printed at the bottom of the PLTS200.

Step 4:
Click on the Security tab.

Step 5:
Enter your preferred password in the Choose Network Password field.

NOTE:  The password you entered must be the same password for all your Powerline devices.

Step 6:
Click the Set Local Device Only button.

Step 7:
A pop-up window will appear informing you that the password has been set successfully.  Click OK.

Your PLTS200 should now be secured.

Setting up Security on the PLTE200

Step 1:
Plug the PLTS200 into any available LAN port on the router using an Ethernet cable.

NOTE:   Both the router and PLTS200 should be powered ON.

Step 2:
With the Powerline Utility still open, click on the Main tab.

Step 3:
Click the Refresh button and you should be able to see the PLTE200 listed under Local.

NOTE:  If you don't see the PLTE200 device listed, check your wiring and try again.  You may need to relaunch the Powerline Utility.

NOTE:  To ensure you are configuring the right PLTE200 device, make sure the MAC address listed in the Powerline Utility is the same as the MAC address printed on the bottom of the PLTE200.

Step 4:
Click on the Security tab.

Step 5:
Enter your preferred password in the Choose Network Password field.

NOTE:  The password you entered must be the same password for all your Powerline devices.

Step 6:
Click the Set Local Device Only button.

Step 7:
A pop-up window will appear informing you that the password has been set successfully.  Click OK.

Step 8:
Plug the PLTE200 into a LAN port on the router.

Both PLTS200 and PLTE200 should now have the same password.

To ensure that the PLTS200 and PLTE200 are communicating properly, look at the PLTS200 and PLTE200 LED's.  Check if the  LED is lit.  If it is, the connection between the PLTS200 and PLTE200 has been established.
