How to Setup Security on the Powerline AV Network Kit PLK300

What is a Powerline AV Network Kit?

The PowerLine AV Ethernet Adapter lets you turn the existing powerlines in your home or office into a high-speed network. You do not have to drill through the walls and climb through the attic or cellar to install network cables.

The PowerLine AV Adapter interfaces Ethernet devices to the HomePlug AV PowerLine network standard. Just plug the PowerLine AV Adapter into the wall, and connect your Ethernet-equipped device to the Adapter using the included network cable, and you have turned your whole house into network infrastructure! Attach more computers to the network by simply plugging them into the wall anywhere in the house, using more PowerLine AV Adapters.

Before setting up the security on the Powerline AV Network Kit between PLE300 and PLS300, you have to follow the following steps:

Step 1:
Setup the PLE300. Connect one end of an Ethernet network cable to the Ethernet port of the Powerline AV Network Adapter. Connect the other end of the cable to the Ethernet port on your router. Connect the power cord to the Power port of the Adapter and the other end into an electrical outlet.

Step 2:
Setup the PLS300. Connect one end of an Ethernet network cable to an Ethernet port on the PLS300. Connect the other end of the cable to the computer or other
device that you want to add to the network. Connect the power cord to the Power port of the PLS300.

Step 3:
Make sure both devices are already plugged in and functioning.  The Powerline LED  should be lit on both the PLE300 and PLS300.

Step 4:
On the PLE300, press and hold the HomePlug Simple Connect button   until the Power LED   starts flashing.

NOTE: This usually takes about 15 seconds.

Step 5:
On the PLS300, press and hold the HomePlug Simple Connect button   until the Power LED  starts flashing.

NOTE: This usually takes about 15 seconds.

Step 6:
On the PLE300, the Power LED  should now be solidly lit and ready to setup security.

Step 7:
Next, press and hold the HomePlug Simple Connect button   for two seconds. Now the Power LED  should start flashing again.

Step 8:
On the PLS300, the Power LED  should now be solidly lit and ready to setup security.

Step 9:
Next, press and hold the HomePlug Simple Connect button   for two seconds. Now the Power LED  should start flashing again. Now a password is automatically being setup between the PLE300 and the PLS300.

Step 10:
The PLE300 and PLS300 will now automatically reboot and security will be setup. Now the Powerline LED  should be lit and the devices are secure.

To setup security on an additional PLE300 or PLS300, you have to follow the following steps:

Step 1:
Press and hold the HomePlug Simple Connect button   until the Power LED  starts flashing.

NOTE: This usually takes about 15 seconds.  Wait until the Power LED  to become solid before continuing.

Step 2:
Once the Power LED  becomes solid, press and hold the HomePlug Simple Connect button   for two seconds.

NOTE: The Power LED  should start flashing.

Step 3:
On one of the adapters that have already been setup for security, press and hold the HomePlug Simple Connect button   for two seconds. Now the Power LED  should start flashing.

Step 4:
At this point, security is being setup on the additional adapter to match the security that was already setup on the PLE300 and PLS300 earlier.

Step 5:
Now the addition adapter should reboot and be secured.

NOTE:
To ensure communication is working between all the devices, make sure they all have the Powerline LED lit .
