4.  What is its default IP address?

The switch is a DHCP client by default.  If there is no DHCP server on your network, the default IP address of the switch is 192.168.1.251/255.255.255.0.

5.  What is PoE?

Power over Ethernet (PoE) is a technology that enables an ethernet cable to deliver both data and power.

6.  What kind of devices can I connect to the switch?

You can connect hubs, IP phones, IP cameras, computers, routers, other switches, and network printers to the switch.

7.  What is the advantage of having a switch when it comes to data transfer?

The switch's gigabit speed ports provide high bandwidth capabilities.  It also acts as a repeater which regenerates data signals as they pass through the device.  This feature acts as a safeguard to deter data loss and ensure that transmissions arrive securely at their destinations.  Moreover, a switch is capable of intelligent filtering of data based on source and destination as compared to the repeater which can only regenerate the signal without checking its recipients.

8.  Can I use a switch to share internet connection to all computers in the network?

No.  The switch is not capable of sharing internet connection across the network but it allows more computers to be connected to a local network.

9.  Does the switch support QoS?

The switch supports Quality of Service (QoS) in Basic Mode only.

10.  Does it support port mirroring?

Yes.  It supports up to four sources to one target.

  • Linksys LGS326P or LGS326MP
  • Quick start guide
  • Power cord and adapter
  • CD with documentation
  • Rack-mount kit
12.  What is the PoE power budget for the switch?

The PoE power budget is 384 W for up to 24 PoE+ ports.

13.  What are the supported PoE standards?

The switch supports both IEEE 802.3af and IEEE 802.3at (PoE+).

14.  Does it have a fan support?

Yes.  The switch has one fan.

LIGHTS

1.  What do the lights in the switch mean?

SYSTEM light - Indicates the device’s status and activities.
  • OFF - System is powered OFF
  • Solid blue - System is ON and operative
  • Blinking blue:
    • Booting/System self-test
    • Device is using the factory default IP address of 192.168.1. 251
  • Blinking yellow - Failure detect (e.g., fan)
PoE MAX - Indicates the PoE power budget status of the switch
  • OFF - Total power feeding does not reach 85 percent of total power budget
  • Solid orange - Total power feeding is reaching over 85 precent of total power budget
Combo port lights
  • Left - Indicates link/activity status
    • OFF  - No link detected
    • Solid - Link is detected/established
    • Blinking - Transmitting/receiving data
  • Right - Indicates the speed
    • OFF - 10/100 Base-TX link detected or link down
    • Solid - 1000 Mbps link detected
RJ-45 Port Lights
  • Left - Indicates the link/activity status
    • OFF - No link detected
    • Solid - Link is detected/established
    • Blinking - Transmitting/receiving data

2.  Why the does the SYSTEM light keep blinking?

The SYSTEM light flashes when the device is acquiring an IP address and when using the factory default IP address of 192.168.1.251.  The light changes to solid blue when a new unique IP address is received from the DHCP server or a static IP address has been set.

3.  When will the PoE MAX light turn ON?

The PoE MAX light turns ON when the switch is providing more than 85 percent of its total PoE budget to warn you that only 15 percent of the total PoE budget is available.
