Setting up the WMP54G without using the installation CD
Installing your Linksys Wireless-G PCI adapter WMP54G without using the Setup CD is easy. To start the installation process, all you need is the downloadable driver from the Linksys Support Site. Follow the steps below to download the driver from the device’s product page and to install your WMP54G.
NOTE: Verify the model number of your Linksys wireless adapter before trying to download the drivers to ensure that you’ll be getting the correct file. For instructions on how to find the model number of your device, click here.
Once online, go to the WMP54G product page and click on the Downloads option. Alternatively, scroll down and click the Download Software link.
On the Downloads section, choose the version of your WMP54G and download the specific driver for your computer’s operating system.
Click Save on the File Download dialog box, choose a location for the file (like the Desktop) and click Save. When the download is complete, click Close.
NOTE: Windows® XP is used as an example for this step.
If the file is zipped, double-click on it to extract its contents to your preferred folder or destination drive. For instructions on how to unzip a downloadable zip file using a Windows computer, click here.
NOTE: Newer Windows OS (Vista®, 7, and 8) have built-in unzipping features; but for Windows XP, you might need to use an application to open and to extract files from the ZIP file archive. One of the popular software to use is WinZip®.
NOTE: Before installing the driver, make sure that the Wireless-G PCI adapter is not yet installed on your computer.
From the extracted file, double-click Setup.

Accept the License Agreement by clicking Next.
Click Next then turn off your computer. Plug the Wireless-G PCI Adapter into an available PCI slot and restart your computer.
