Configuring, downloading and upgrading the firmware of your E8350

STEP 1
Check the current firmware version that your device is using. 

 
Step 1:
Access the router’s web-based setup page.  Open any web browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, or Safari®) and enter “192.168.1.1” in the Address bar then press [Enter].

Step 2:
You will be asked for your login details.  Enter “admin” in the User name and Password fields, then press [Enter].
 
Step 3:
Look for the firmware version located on the upper right corner of your web-based setup page’s screen as shown in the image below:

NOTE:  The latest firmware version of E8350 is 1.0.02.  If your router already uses version 1.0.02, then you’re all set.  No action is required on your part.  However, if your device has an earlier version of the firmware (e.g. 1.0.01 or older), it is recommended to download the latest version and upgrade.  For instructions, proceed to STEP 2.
 
STEP 2
Download the latest E8350 firmware version by clicking this link.
 

STEP 3
Upgrade the firmware of your E8350 by following the steps provided below.
 
Step 1: 
Access the router’s web-based setup page.  Open any web browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, or Safari®) and enter “192.168.1.1” in the Address bar then press [Enter].

Step 2:
You will be asked for your login details.  Enter “admin” in the User name and Password fields, then press [Enter].  
 
Step 3:
Click on Administration > Firmware Upgrade.

Click on the Browse… button.

Step 5:
Locate and select the file that you downloaded then click Open.

Step 6:
Click the Start Upgrade button.

A warning prompt stating not to interrupt the upgrade will appear.

Step 7:
Click Continue when it prompts you that the upgrade has been successful.

Step 8:
Powercycle the router by unplugging it from the power outlet for 10 seconds, then re-plug it.
 
STEP 4
Your firmware upgrade is now complete.  However, if you get an Upgrade Failed error message, follow the instructions below.

Scenario:
 
Your router’s firmware version is 1.0.00 (build 31) and you get an error message “Upgrade Failed” when trying to upgrade it to firmware version 1.0.02 (build 9).
 
Solution:
 
You will need to upgrade to firmware 1.0.01 (build 37) before upgrading to firmware 1.0.02 (build 9).
 
To resolve this error message, do the steps below:

 
Step 1:
Verify your router’s firmware version.  To check, access your router’s web-based setup page > enter your router password > click Status.  
 
Step 2:
If your router’s firmware is 1.0.00 (build 31), you will need to upgrade to firmware 1.0.01 (build 37).  Click here to download the file.  For instructions on how to update the firmware of your router, click here
 
IMPORTANT:  Make sure you do NOT rename the firmware file.

Step 3:
Once you have successfully upgraded to version 1.0.01 (build 37), you can now upgrade to firmware version 1.0.02 (build 9).  Click here to download the file.  For instructions on how to upgrade the firmware of your router, click here.
 

NOTE:  This is ONLY a one time step for routers that have 1.0.00 (build 31).  Future upgrades do not require this firmware.
