A Linksys range extender is a device which allows you to repeat the Wi-Fi signal of any access point or router in order to provide internet connectivity to hard-to-reach areas through a wireless connection.
This article will guide you on how to access your Linksys range extender’s web-based setup page. Click on the following links that best apply to your current network setup:
For a non-configured extender
For an already configured extender
For a non-configured extender
You will need to plug a computer to the range extender’s ethernet port.
Follow these steps to access the web-based setup page for the following scenarios:
NOTE: In the image, the Linksys RE1000 is being used as an example.
Step 3:
Launch a web browser and enter the Linksys range extender’s IP address. The default IP address is 192.168.1.1.
Step 4:
You will be prompted for a User name and a Password. Leave the User name field blank and enter “admin” in the Password field then click OK or Login.
NOTE: If you have customized your password, enter it instead.
You should now be able to access the web-based setup page of your Linksys range extender.

For an already configured extender
For an already configured extender, what you need is the IP address of the range extender so that you can access its web-based setup page. You can check the router’s DHCP Client Table and look for the range extender’s IP address. To learn how to do this, click here. If you’re using a Linksys RE6400, RE6300, and RE6700, you may simply enter http://RE6x00-xxx for Windows® users or http://RE6x00-xxx.local for Mac® users. The xxx stands for the last three characters of the extender's MAC address. For instructions on finding the extender's MAC address, click here.

Step 2:
Click Network on the left pane.
Step 3:
Right click your range extender’s (e.g., Linksys Range Extender) icon and click View device webpage.
NOTE: In some cases, the icon is displayed as your device's specific model such as RE6500 or RE6700.
You will then be directed to the range extender’s web-based setup page.
Step 4:
You will be prompted for a username and a password. Leave the User name field blank and enter “admin” in the Password field, then click OK or Login.
NOTE: If you have customized your password, enter it instead.
You should now be able to access the web-based setup page of your Linksys range extender.
Step 3:
Right click your extender’s (e.g., RE1000) icon and click Properties. Take note of your range extender’s IP address.

NOTE: The images may vary depending on the version number of your Safari browser. In this example, we used Safari Version 8.0.8.
Step 2:
Select Bonjour®, look for your range extender from the options and double click it.
NOTE: If Bonjour is not included in your bookmarks, go to Safari > Preferences > Advanced and select Include Bonjour in the Bookmarks menu. If you can't find Bonjour, enter your range extender's IP address in the Address bar instead. To check your extender's IP address, click here.
Step 3:
You will be prompted for a Name and a Password. Leave the Name field blank, enter “admin” in the Password field, and then click Log In.
NOTE: If you have customized your password, enter it instead.
