Updating the old firmware of the Linksys Wireless-AC and Wireless-N Access Points to the latest version

It is recommended to keep your Linksys Wireless-AC and Wireless-N Access Points updated to experience feature enhancements and fix bugs from previous versions.

If you have a Linksys Access Point with an older firmware version, you may experience trouble in updating it to the latest version.  This is primarily because older versions do not support signed image features.

IMPORTANT:  If your device is running an older firmware version, you need to upgrade your device to the transition firmware version first before loading the latest signed image version.  To perform this update, follow the steps below.

Step 1:
Identify the firmware version of your Linksys Access Point.  Refer to the table below to know whether you have an older version or a recent one.

If your device has:
  • An old firmware version – update to the transition firmware then the latest version
  • A transition firmware version – ready to update to the latest firmware version.  Proceed to Step 3.
  • The first signed image version – check if there’s a new firmware version available for your device.  If there is, you may proceed with the update.  To know how, click here.
NOTE:  Click on your Linksys device to see the available firmware versions or on the version to download the file.
