Setting Up Port Range Forwarding on WRT160N v2

Port Range Forwarding allows you to set up public services on your network, such as web servers, ftp servers, email servers or other specialized Internet applications.  This feature is also configured among other Linksys routers.

Follow the instructions below to forward a port range on your gateway or router.

NOTE:  Static IP addresses should be assigned to the designated computers or servers before using the Port Range Forwarding feature.

 You will need to access the setup page of the router to configure the Advanced Settings on the following tabs:

Setup
Security
Administration
Applications and Gaming

Setup

Step 1:
Change the MTU into Manual and enter 1365 for the Size.

 

Step 2:
Click Save Settings to apply the changes.


Security

 

Step 1:
Click the Security tab and uncheck Filter Anonymous Internet Requests.

 

 

Step 2:
Click Save Settings to apply the changes.
 

Administration

 

Step 1:
Click the Administration tab and set UPnP to Disabled.

 

 

 

Step 2:
Click Save Settings to apply the changes.
 

Applications and Gaming

 

Step 1:
Click on the Applications & Gaming tab.

 

Step 2:
Click on the Port Range Forwarding sub-tab.

 

 

Step 3:
Enter the Application Name in the blank field.  Each name can be up to 12 characters.
 


Step 4:
Enter the number or range of ports used by the server you want to connect or Internet applications in the Start ~ End Port column.

NOTE:  You may contact the vendor of the Internet application for more information.

 

 

Step 5:
Select the Protocol used for the application.

 

 

Step 6:
Enter the IP Address of the computer which will run the application.

 

 

Step 7:
Select Enabled to allow port forwarding for the application you have specified.

 

 

Step 8:
Click .
