- Checking the computer’s IPv6 Address
This article will guide you on how to check the IPv6 Address of your computer. Choose your computer’s operating system below for specific instructions:
Windows® 7 / Windows Vista®
Click the Pearl button at the bottom left corner of the screen. Then type in “Network and Internet” on the Start Search box and press [Enter].
QUICK TIP: You can also click on the Network and Sharing Center link that would appear on the search results section.
Click on the View network status and tasks link.
Click Change adapter settings.
Right-click the Local Area Connection icon and select Details.
NOTE: You will find the IPv6 IP Address details below the IPv4 IP Address section.
Click Start > Run.
Type “cmd” in the Run field then click OK.
The Command Prompt window will now appear. Type “ipconfig/all” on the blinking cursor then press [Enter].
NOTE: You will find the IPv6 Address network details under the Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection section.
Network Connections in Windows XP
Click Start > Control Panel.
Double-click the Network Connections icon in the Control Panel window.
Right-click Wireless Network Connection and select Status.
Click the Support tab then click the Details… button.
NOTE: The Link-local IPv6 Address will display the IPv6 Address details of your computer.
Click the Apple icon at the top left corner of the screen, then select System Preferences.
Click on the drop-down arrow for the Location: and select Automatic. After that, click on the drop-down arrow for the Show: section and select Built-in Ethernet.
Click the Configure IPv6 button.
NOTE: Another window will appear. Ensure that it is set to Automatically. You will then see the IPv6 IP Address and the Router Address.
