Disabling PPPoE dialer on a computer

A PPPoE dialer allows your computer or device to connect to your DSL service provider that offers PPPoE service.  Linksys routers have PPPoE feature that allows you to input your PPPoE credentials to be able to share Internet connection on the network.

Once the Linksys router’s PPPoE feature is enabled, you won’t need the PPPoE dialer on the devices or computers in the network.  This article will teach you how to disable a PPPoE dialer on your computer.  Click on the corresponding links for the operating system you are using:

Windows Vista/7
Windows XP
Mac OS X

Windows Vista/7

Step 1:
Click on Start > Control Panel.

Step 2:
Choose Large icons view.

 

Step 3:
Click on Internet Options.

 

Step 4:
Click on Connections tab.

 

Step 5:
Choose Never dial a connection.

 

Step 6:
Click on .

Windows XP

Step 1:
Click on Start > Control Panel.

 

Step 2:
Click on Internet Options.

 

Step 3:
Click on Connections tab.

 

Step 4:
Choose Never dial a connection.

 

Step 5:
Click on .

Mac OS X

Step 1:
Click on the Apple Menu > System Preferences.

 

Step 2:
Click on Network.

 

Step 3:
Click on the PPPoE tab then uncheck Connect using PPPoE.

 

Step 4:
Click .

Your computer’s PPPoE dialer is now disabled.
