Checking the Annex and Model Number of a Linksys ADSL gateway

Annex A is Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) over baseband Plain Old Telephone Service (POTS), while Annex B is ADSL over the Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN).  The checklist below shows the locations and the Annex for a Linksys gateway:

NOTE:  Though gateways use the same Annex, the firmware is not interoperable because of the difference in memory specification.  AU versions have 8 M/32 M while EU is 16 M/32 M.

Verify the Annex of the gateway

There are two (2) ways to verify the Annex of your gateway.

•  Checking the device manual
•  Checking where the device was purchased

Checking the device manual

The Linksys gateway package comes with a user guide.  Verify the Model Number and check if you can already identify what Annex of gateway you are using.

For Model Numbers that has EU, use Annex A.
 

For Model Numbers that has DE, use Annex B.

NOTE:  Refer to the table of above to determine what Annex must be used on your device. 

Checking where the device was purchased

Verify the location of the gateway and refer to the annexes in the table to identify the Annex of the gateway.

Check the exact Model Number of the gateway

Step 1:
Look at the side panel of the gateway when it is standing vertically.

NOTE:  You should find the Model Number on the sticker.

NOTE:  The images may vary depending on the model number of your Linksys product.  If the image above is not similar to the one you are using, refer to your documentation.
 

Step 2:
Take note of the exact Model Number and version of your Linksys device.

Step 1:
Flip the device over.

Step 2:
You should find the Model Number on the sticker underneath the device.

NOTE:  The images may vary depending on the model number of your Linksys product.  If the image above is not similar to the one you are using, refer to your documentation.

Step 3:
Take note of the exact Model Number and version of your Linksys device.
