Setting up Single Port Forwarding on your Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Router

Single Port Forwarding allows you to set up public services one by one on your network such as web servers, FTP servers, email servers, or other specialized internet applications such as videoconferencing or online gaming.

Basic Requirements

1. Note the port you need to forward – The service ports have different assigned numbers depending on the type of service, hardware, or application. Refer to your documentation or contact your device manufacturer for details. For common port numbers for your game console, click here.

2. Set a Static IP address on the device – You will need to assign a Static IP address to the computer or device you are configuring for port forwarding. This way, the port forwarding request will be sent to and received from the same IP address.

Follow the steps below to set up Single Port Forwarding on the router.

Step 1:
Access your Linksys router's cloud account via a web browser. For instructions, click here.

NOTE: If you haven't set up a Linksys cloud account, click here or log in using the default IP address of the router which is 192.168.1.1.

In the example below, we will port forward a Linksys WVC80N Wireless-N Internet Home Monitoring Camera to enable its remote access feature, which means you can access your monitoring camera even when you’re away from your home network. This camera utilizes Port 80, which is the regular internet port number (HTTPS) so the camera can be accessed over the internet. The 192.168.1.11 represents the camera’s Static IP address.
