Connecting devices using Wi-Fi Protected Setup™ (WPS) on your Linksys router

Wi-Fi Protected Setup™ (WPS) is a feature that lets you easily connect WPS-supported client devices, such as wireless printers, to your router wirelessly. This article will provide three methods that you can follow depending on what client device you are using to connect to the router through the WPS feature.

NOTE: WPS configures one device at a time. The WPS button is located either on the front or back panel of your Linksys device. Some Wireless-G routers may not have a WPS feature. Refer to your product documentation for the detailed features of your router.

Connecting a device using the WPS button

Use this method if your client device has a WPS button or if it prompts you to press the WPS button on your router.

Step 1:
Locate and press the WPS button on your router. Alternatively, you can access your router’s web-based setup page and configure WPS from there by just clicking on the same WPS button found on the first item. To access your router’s web-based setup page, open any web browser (Internet Explorer®, Mozilla Firefox®, or Safari®) and enter “192.168.1.1” on the Address bar then press [Enter]. NOTE: To learn how to use the WPS feature on your client device, refer to its documentation.

Your device should now be connected to your router wirelessly using WPS. If you encounter problems with the WPS setup such as Connection Failure! Your client device failed to connect to the network. Refer back to your client device for further instructions. Press "OK" to continue., you may manually configure your router’s wireless settings.
