How to optimize the Linksys RE7000 for a noisy 2.4 GHz environment

When the Linksys RE7000 is deployed as a wireless range extender that extends the Wi-Fi of a dual-band wireless router, it is recommended to manually configure the Linksys RE7000’s uplink as 5 GHz especially if the user’s 2.4 GHz environment is noisy with many neighboring access points.

This article will guide you on how to optimize your Linksys RE7000 for a noisy environment.

Step 1:
Access your Linksys RE7000’s web-based setup page.  To know how, click here.

Step 2:
Click Wireless > Cross Band.

Step 3:
Click Manual then select 5 GHz Only.  Click Save to apply the changes.

IMPORTANT:  When the uplink of the Linksys RE7000 is 5 GHz Only, its 2.4 GHz extended network operates better in a channel that is different from that of the user’s wireless router.  Setting Auto as the Channel is highly recommended.
