Setting up the Linksys 1080p 3MP Outdoor Night Vision Dome Camera, LCAD03VLNOD

The Linksys 1080p 3MP Outdoor Night Vision Dome Camera, LCAD03VLNOD has flexible video compression formats (H.264, MPEG-4, MJPEG) and power over Ethernet functionality for installation away from an electrical outlet.  This camera comes with several features including:
  • Vari-focal lens to adjust the focal distance
  • IR-cut filter to prevent distortion of the images
  • Infrared LEDs that help the camera to view clear images during the night
  • Vandalism and weather proof cover
  • Ceiling and wall-mountable
NOTE:  The LCAD03VLNOD camera can be used both indoors and outdoors.

There are two setups that you need to perform to install the night vision dome camera:

Hardware installation

Make sure that the following items are included in the Linksys LCAD03VLNOD package:
  • Network camera and terminal block
  • Location sticker, screws, and anchors
  • Moisture absorbing dry bag
  • Tie wrap
  • Allen key T20
  • CD with documents and Video Surveillance Manager Software
  • Power Adapter
Step 1:
Remove the dome cover from the camera.

 
Step 2:
Insert the cables through conduit hole A or B, depending on whether you will run the cables inside a wall or ceiling or keep them outside.
 
IMPORTANT:  For a waterproof seal at the conduit hole, be sure to use plastic flex conduit and lock nut which are NOT included in the package.

Step 3:
Connect the available cables to their respective terminals.  This is optional if you have any external devices to connect via DI/DO connector.

 
a. RJ45 Ethernet Cable - The camera is PoE-compliant (802.3af).  If you don’t have a PoE switch or injector, you will need to connect the DC 12V power connection provided.

b. If you do not have PoE connection, connect one of the terminals identified in the table below.

Step 4:
Insert your SD/SDHC card into the card slot (optional).  The maximum memory size card supported is 32 GB.
 
NOTE:  The SD/SDHC card is not included in the product package.

Step 5:
Place the moisture-absorbing dry bag inside the camera and secure it properly with tie wrap.

Step 6:
Attach the location sticker to the desired spot.

QUICK TIP:  The best place to mount the camera is on a ceiling stud.  
 
Step 7:
Drill holes through the center of the four location holes on the sticker then hammer the four plastic anchors into the four location holes.
 
IMPORTANT:  The camera must be installed securely and properly.  The camera might fall and be damaged if mounted on a soft material and/or not tightly secured.  Linksys is NOT responsible for damages incurred by improper wall or ceiling mounting.

Step 8:
Line up screw slots on camera mount with the plastic anchors.  Insert and tighten the screws.
 
Step 9:
Adjust the lens and zoom viewing.  

Lens Viewing Adjustment

Release the tilt screws on both sides of the camera and then rotate the lens up or down to desired position.  Tighten the tilt screw.
 
Zoom View Adjustment

Release the zoom ring controller bar and then slide it left or right to get the desired field of view.  After completion, tighten the zoom ring controller

 
 
Step 10:
Place the dome cover on the camera and slowly turn it until it is in the desired position.  Then attach the four dome screws to fix the dome cover onto the camera.

 
 
After you have successfully installed the camera to your desired spot, you can now install the Video Surveillance Manager (PC-NVR) Software that comes with the device for easy configuration and management.

Software installation

The following requirements must be met to successfully install the Video Surveillance Manager Software:
  • Microsoft Windows 7 or 8 (32-bit or 64-bit)
  • Intel® Dual Core CPU 2.0 GHz
  • Dedicated Video Card with 256 MB RAM
  • 4 GB RAM
  • Gigabit LAN Port
  • Sound Card required for audio function
  • Monitor - 1024 x 768 pixels or more, 24-bit true color
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 9 or later
Step 1:
Insert the Setup CD into your computer’s CD-ROM drive.

Step 2:
If you do not see the Welcome Screen, click Start > Computer then double-click the CD drive and the Setup icon.

Step 3:
Follow the on-screen instructions.

NOTE:  You may be prompted to install: Windows Installerv4.5, .Net Framework v3.5, Microsoft SQL 2008 Express.  If these versions are not installed on your system, the program will install them for you automatically.
 

 
Step 4:
Once installed, you will be prompted for a Username and Password.  The default is admin for both. This password is different from the camera's password.  The PC-NVR has its own separate password to manage the utility.  Click OK.
 
NOTE:  If you forgot your password, you may reinstall the software; but, as you uninstall it, uncheck all the boxes to avoid deleting any of the media files.

The Video Surveillance Manager Software will display the LiveView screen of the utility.  
 
IMPORTANT:  Camera image or video feeds will not appear on the grid until you add them in the Search area.  


 
Congratulations!  Your outdoor night vision dome camera is now ready for use.
