Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bricked by firmware update I attempted to update firmware from 1.0.08 to 1.0.013. Got message that firmware was corrupted. Unit tried to reboot, but it's dead. Power cycle shows white LED indicator flashing 20 times, then nothing.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from major reliability issues it works pretty well when it works, definitely did notice better speeds. However, the major ongoing issue is that this seems to drop the signal to the modem/router and always shows "no internet connection" despite the main xfinity router showing an internet connection itself. Seems like this product always loses the signal and constantly has to "restart" itself all the time. really bad signal reliablity.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Drastically reduces speed and instructions wrong I suppose it does work to extend the network, but it reduced my download speed to literally 25% of what I get at the very edge of my existing Wi-Fi (88mbps vs 356mbps) - even though my top speeds are well within the max specs for the device. Upload speed was reduced by 50%. The instructions are also incorrect - they say to wait for a solid light when actually you wait for a flashing orange light (never turns solid). I delayed setting this thing up because I trusted the Linksys brand and am outside my return window otherwise this would be going back.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Good. Them bad.rgen stopped working I connected to my Xfinity wifi without issue then a few weeks later started getting issues on the xfinity internet feed. The Xfinity tech came and ran tests and said that I can't run the Lynksys 6500 extender as they are old technology and not compatible with the wifi6 tech that Xfinity uses. Disconnected the linksys and my internet works again.if I turn on again I start to get connection issues after a couple of hours. I was told by xfinity I should get a mesh unit. Not an extender for wifi6. Lynksys needs to put that info in their specs. Now I own a boat anchor.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Intermittent lagging It does extend the signal quite well and gives me full bars on the other side of the house. The problem is that About every 10 seconds, there is a second of no communication. This isn’t a huge problem if you’re streaming a video as you can buffer the video quite a ways out even if you get a second of interruption. It is, however, hugely problematic if you video conference as the feed is constantly skipping a second for every 10 seconds. The worst problem is the customer service. It’s comically bad.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor set up instructions. Your written instructions included with the device are incorrect, The light always flashed orange and never turns to solid white as you state in the instructions.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very hard to reconfigure Changed main routers, now can't get this RE6500 to re-establish connection. Tried to connect w/ ethernet to laptop, ethernet to main router then wirelessly to extender, tried hard resets, tried to connect via IP address. Rejects old password. Won't let me set new one. Not recommended.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Does not work with 3G/4G WiFi Hi when purchasing in Denmark this rather important information isn’t presented. The sympthpms are as follows: you can link up the extender with your wifi and you can connect to the exteder an everything looks fine, but as soon as you start loading your wifi the internet connection is lost even though your 3G/4G router is connected and you have connection with the extender (permanent whithe light). The extender works fine as an accesspoint, but that was not what I purchased.

Can this be used to expand signal from an EA8300? I already have 1 RE9000 expanding signal to my 2nd floor. I'd like to get better signal to garage for a wifi camera that uses 2.4GHz to communicate.

Asked by: Padymcc
Definitely, yes, Padymcc.

We're moving & will have free WIFI-only internet access. Our Synology Network Attached Storage (NAS) device requires a wired-ethernet connection. Can we use the RE6500 to attach a Netgear WIFI router or the NAS directly to the existing WIFI network?

Asked by: AM20220415
It does have a captive portal, but as long as I have the MAC address, I can assign it access.

Hello, will the RE6500 extender work seamlessly with the MR75WH router, or do you recomend a different model extender. I run quite a few security cameras and smart home devices so i can't have any drops in connection. Thanks

Asked by: evans dad
Hi. We recommend using the Linksys Velop Mesh WiFi Extender (WHW0101P) with the Linksys Hydra Pro 6E Tri-Band Mesh WiFi (MR75WH) for better compatibility. *Range specifications are based on performance test results under normal use case conditions. Actual ranges will increase or decrease depending on wireless obstructions, operating environments and building material. Wireless coverage claims are used only as reference and are not guaranteed, as each wireless network is unique.

**Maximum performance derived from IEEE Standard 802.11 specification. Actual performance can vary, including lower wireless network capacity, data throughput rate, range and coverage. Performance depends on many factors, conditions and variables, including distance from the access point, volume of network traffic, building materials and construction, operating system used, mix of wireless products used, interference and other adverse conditions.
