Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great device for my needs Have had for 2.5 years. No WiFi was hitting my basement from upstairs. Installed this, and I'm not that technically minded. Now able to operate my home office and wireless printer with no issues. Great product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works for me Easy to set up, it extends coverage to where I needed it… for my 2.4GHz band. I still need to get the 5GHz band set up, but am happy that I at least have one band working so haven’t made it a priority.

HOW TO DELETE PREVIOUS NETWORK SETUPS TO HAVE A CLEAN EXTENDER?

Asked by: STARCHILD
Hi there. You can reset the Linksys RE7000 to its factory default setting and reconfigure it back to your network. Just Press and hold the Reset button of your RE7000 for 10 seconds to reset it to factory default settings.

How many RE7000 extenders can be used together?

Asked by: NASARich
Hi, NASARich. You can cascade multiple range extenders to the router. However, we recommend using up to three extenders only as the signal deteriorates the more it gets extended.

I have a EA9500 router. I want to add 2 RE7000 extenders. Do I need to pull a cat6 cable from the router to each extender? Does each extender need AC power?

Asked by: Hepler
Each extender needs AC power — in fact, the plug is integrated into the unit so it needs to hang on the wall or have adequate space in a power strip. Running Ethernet (Cat 5/5e/6) to the extenders is not required, but can be useful: the extenders can be configured as either wireless range-extenders or as wired access points. As a wireless range-extender, the RE7000 sends data back-and-forth to the main router over WiFi, and as a wired AP it sends that traffic over its wired link. In either case, the RE7000 is the base of its own WiFi network to reach local clients (laptop/etc), and can be given its own network name, if you want to explicitly choose when to connect to the extender, or the same name as your main router's WiFi if you want to easily roam between them to the stronger WiFi signal. Note also that when configured as a wireless range-extender you can plug-into the RE7000's Ethernet port to connect wired devices into the WiFi network. The configuration which works better for you will depend on how easy it is to run Ethernet vs finding a good mid-point where the extender can have a solid WiFi signal to both your router in one direction and your laptop/etc in the other, whether an extra "hop" over WiFi for all your "extended" traffic is acceptable (in terms of added latency & channel use), and if you have a need to connect wired devices near the extender into your WiFi network. These configurations are detailed in the User Guide and video on the support page: https://www.linksys.com/support-product?sku=RE7000

My Velop mesh node is just outside the basement door. There’s no outlet until deeper into the basement. Will the extender work?
