Rated 1 out of 5 by from Keeps dropping connection Took it out of the box today and it stays connected for about 5 minutes then looses connection. So frustrated

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Router, except for the LED light Router was fairly easy to setup and works well. I only have one complaint. I wish the indicator LED was brighter. Sometimes when I shine the light of a thousands burning suns on it, it appears slightly dimmer. I mean, if you can't see a your router status in the brightest of all daylights, what's the point of the indicator light? I mean, it's not like this would ever be used in a bedroom, or on an entertainment center.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product I bought it to install on a big house, it actually covered the whole house I'm just impressed. I installed 2 other velops just to make sure I was getting the best coverage. A bit expensive but it's worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy setup and works great in our attic for house. Got this for us to have wifi in our new house and mounted it the attic. We have full bars and no dead spaces in the 2100 sq. foot home. Even works outside on patio and front porch. I have a switch and AP that I am planning to add to the network soon and now might not need them since it works so well. Order a second unit for our neighbors who needed a router and they are happy as well with the performance.

Can my velop wifi 5 be integrated with wifi 6nodes or routers?

Asked by: TimLnola
Definitely, TimLnola. The Linksys MR5500 is backwards compatible with WiFi 5 and works with all Linksys Intelligent mesh routers. It is also recommended to set the node with higher and better specs as the parent node to fully maximize its features.

Do you have to already have internet service to use this or IS this the internet service. I live in a area where I cannot get internet service so I'm trying to find some

Asked by: Ja85
Hi Ja85: You need to have internet service into the home, then the WIFI router will allow you to wirelessly access internet with your devices. If there is no cable or DSL internet access in your area, you may need to use a satellite provider. Best of luck.

Specifications are subject to change without notice. An active, customer-purchased Internet Service Provider broadband account is required for connection of this product and other connected devices to the Internet. Some devices may require additional wireless adapters or an Ethernet cable to connect. Number of connected devices is based on lab test results and may be different for your network.

Maximum Performance derived from IEEE Standard 802.11 specifications. Actual performance may vary, including lower wireless network capacity, data throughput rate, speed, range and coverage. Performance depends upon many factors, conditions and variables, including building materials and construction, volume of network traffic, mix of wireless products used, interference and other adverse conditions. In order to achieve the best performance, this product must be used with compatible AX5400 wireless devices. The standard transmission rates for each router—4804 Mbps (for 5 GHz), 574Mbps (for 2.4 GHz)—are the physical data rates. Actual data throughput will be lower and may depend on the mix of wireless products used and external factors.

May require a software/firmware update available for download at linksys.com/support.

*Up to 4x more capacity as compared from 802.11ac to 802.11ax

**4.2x faster performance as compared to a 2x2 WiFi 5 router at 80MHz

Claims relating to reducing power consumption will vary depending on age of device, device storage conditions, device battery degradation over time, and other factors during use such as temperature, connected cables, discharge rate, and device type. In general, device batteries have limited recharge cycles and may eventually need to be replaced.

Each router in the wireless system provides a range of up to 2700 square feet (approximately 250 square meters). Range can vary with the number and placement of nodes in the system. Range specifications are based on performance test results under normal use case conditions. Actual ranges will vary depending on wireless interference, physical obstructions, operating environments and building material. Wireless coverage claims are used only as reference and are not guaranteed, as each wireless network is unique. Additional Nodes (available for purchase separately) may be required for especially large houses or buildings with thick or dense walls. Coverage of all homes cannot be guaranteed due to variations in size, layout, building materials and the level of wireless interference present.
