Rated 1 out of 5 by from Need to restart routers weekly I've found these routers to be extremely unreliable. I have a total of 4 Velop MX8410s that I have tried in various configurations. 3 satellite nodes are wired to a main node. Several issues I've observed: - When I move through the house with my laptop or phone, the connection will almost never handoff between routers automatically (I can tell both because speed test shows a very low bandwidth and the Linksys app shows that my device is still connected to a distant node). I need to manually turn off and then re-enable WiFi on my device. - Every few days, my devices will no longer switch nodes even when I toggle WiFi on them. They're just stuck on whatever node they were connected to last. The only solution I've found is to restart the router (via the app or toggling power to the main node). - At Linksys's recommendation, I removed one or two of the nodes and changed location to minimize the potential for interference between nodes but this did not help. I even tried switching which node was the main node to no avail. This issue has persistent for well over 6 months, and I haven't found a solution.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value whole home mesh wi-fi 6 system. I got the Atlas 3 pack MX2003 about a month ago now. The coverage and speed is top notch. Setting up took about 20 or 30 minutes. The app is a little lack luster but for $299 for a 3 pack whole home mesh wi-fi system I still have to give it 5 stars. The app for Android really does need an update. I need to restart the system about once a week for it to recognize the system.

If you are extending from a house to a barn and you run a Cat 6 cable to the barn can you hardwire a node in the barn and in the house? Will that cause any issues? What is the recommended distance between nodes? What modem specs do you need?

Asked by: MMD-CC
Hi. Wiring nodes together can increase the range and speed of your mesh system and reduce the risk of wireless interference. Optimal performance of mesh WiFi is achieved when nodes are positioned or close enough to each other, ensuring strong signals throughout your home. The best guidance is to limit the distance between nodes to no more than two rooms and one floor. In addition, pay attention to the number of large obstacles like furniture, doors, and walls that may block its range. Also, our Linksys routers will work with any modem devices.

does this replace the cable company router

Asked by: paul80
Yes, paul80. The mesh system is a complete replacement for your existing router. One Node should be connected wired to the modem, and all additional nodes (child nodes) can be connected to the parent node over wired or wireless links to expand the coverage of your network.

Actual performance may vary, including lower wireless network capacity, data throughput rate, range, and coverage. Range specifications are based on performance test results under normal use case conditions. Actual data throughput and range depend upon many factors, conditions and variables, including building materials and construction, volume of network traffic, mix of wireless products used, interference, wireless obstructions and other adverse conditions. Actual data throughput will be lower than specified and may depend on mix of wireless products used, your wireless device’s WiFi standard, and external factors. Wireless coverage claims are used only as reference and are not guaranteed, as each wireless network is unique.

An active, customer-purchased internet service provider broadband account is required for connection of this router and other connected computers and devices to the internet.
