Rated 3 out of 5 by from Mediocre connectivity I got the Linksys Velop MX5300 to extend the mesh net of Linksys Velop routers that I currently have as our home is multiple levels with thick walls / floors. I made this the primary node, which was likely a mistake, as this new node has made our internet worse. Connectivity is unreliable and many of our smart appliances and security sensors regularly stop responding, which was not an issue before. I only gave this three stars because it did connect somewhat easily, and the range is further (although it is less reliable now in areas where it used to work well). For this price point, I expect much better performance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I’m glad I added this to my network. The rep I spoke to said this was much stronger then my current system which is also a Linksys velope 3 node. He wasn’t kidding. I have coverage throughout my 2 floor 2600 sf home. Using this as the mother node and the others as child nodes gives me good speeds throughout my home including my yard. Highly recommend this unit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from MX 5300 is a great addition! The MX 5300 is a great addition as a mother node and my child nodes are now much more stable. I highly recommend this Linksys product.

Parental controls do not appear to work on this router. I have times set to block internet access to my daughters devices and she is still able to use device.

Asked by: CSmith
Interesting question. I love my router but I have never seen any parental control set ups there. As far as I know you need to do that on each of the child devices not the router. The router just feeds the signal in to all devices so you would not set up blockers there. Just at the individual users devices. Good luck, Andrew

Hi, How I can use USB 3 port here? Is it possible to connect external hard drive, how I can see it in network?

Asked by: Andy787654
Yes... the USB 3 port was intended for an external hard drive.

Hi, I have a Velop system and worked beautifully until two nights ago, when a lightning storm fried the main velop tower, then I bought the MX5300 base, it will arrive any day. My question is, once I set it up, can I add my two remaining towers WHW03V2?
