Checking the Linksys ADSL Gateway's LEDs

The Linksys ADSL Gateway’s front panel indicates the status of the connection.  The lights at the front panel are:

  • Power
  • WLAN or Wireless G
  • 1, 2, 3, or 4
  • ADSL or DSL
  • Internet
  • Act / Session (only applicable for WAG54G v1)

To check the ADSL gateway’s LEDs, follow these steps:

Step 1:
Make sure that the Power LED is lit.

NOTE: If the Power LED is blinking, you need to upgrade the gateway’s firmware.  For instructions, click  here.    

Step 2:
Make sure that the numbered port (1, 2, 3 or 4) is lit.

NOTE:  If the numbered port (1, 2, 3 or 4) is not lit, make sure that the computer is powered ON.  You can also try connecting the computer to the gateway using another working Ethernet cable.

Step 3:
Make sure that  the WLAN or Wireless G is lit. 

NOTE:  If the WLAN or Wireless G is not lit, make sure that the wireless feature is enabled on the gateway.  For instructions, click  here

Step 4:
Make sure the ADSL or DSL LED is lit. 

NOTE: If the ADSL or DSL LED is not lit, make sure that the ADSL line is properly connected to the LINE port. 

Step 5:
Make sure that the Internet LED is lit green.  

NOTE:  If the Internet LED is lit red, make sure that the ADSL setting is properly configured on the gateway. For instructions, click  here

Step 6:
If you’re using older versions of the gateway, make sure that the Act and Session LEDs are lit.

NOTE:  If the Act and Session LEDs are not lit, make sure that the ADSL setting is properly configured on the gateway.  For instructions, click  here.
