- Changing the wireless network name (SSID) on a Linksys Access Point
Changing the access point’s wireless network name or SSID is one way of securing your wireless network. You may use any name for your access point’s SSID but make sure you are familiar with it since this will identify your wireless network from the rest. To change the wireless network name of your Linksys access point, follow the steps below:
Changing the Access Point’s wireless network name
Access the access point’s web-based setup page. For instructions, click here.
NOTE: If you are using Mac® to access the access point's web-based setup page, click here.
When the access point’s web-based setup page appears, click Wireless.
NOTE: If you’re using a WAP610N Access Point, click Wireless > Basic Wireless Settings > Manual.
Look for Network Name (SSID) and change it to your desired name for the wireless network.
NOTE: If the screen on your access point’s web-based setup page looks different, click here.
Reconnect to your wireless network using the new SSID. For instructions, click here.
