Encountering Difficulty Finding the Storage Link in Network Neighborhood

When experiencing difficulty finding the Storage Link on the Network, ensure that:

  • No firewall and/or security software is running on the computer trying to access it
  • Ensure that it is properly connected to the Ethernet port.

To resolve difficulty finding the Storage Link in Network Neighborhood, perform the following:

  • Using Windows’ Find Function
  • Checking the Storage Link’s IP Address and Gateway

NOTE: If you want to setup the network storage, click here.

Using Windows’ Find Function

Step 1:
Click Start, then Search.

Step 2:
Choose Computers or People.

Step 3:
Choose a computer on the network.

Step 4:
When a field appears, enter the Storage Link’s name.

NOTE: If you’re using Windows 2000, click Files and Folders then select Search for a Computer. If this did not work, check if the TCP/IP protocol, Client for Microsoft Networks service, is installed.

Checking the Storage Link’s IP Address and Gateway

If you are using a router, make sure your PC and the Storage Link are on the same network segment and the gateway set on the Storage Link is the router’s IP Address.
