Setting-Up the Cordless Internet Telephony Kit

Linksys Cordless Internet Telephony Kit offers you all the functions of a regular phone through Skype. You will get the convenience of a cordless phone and all its features, plus the high-quality voice reception that you get from Skype on your PC without being tied to your computer.

To set-up the CIT200, you need to perform three steps:

  1. Downloading the Skype Softwfare
  2. Downloading the CIT200 Driver
  3. Installing the CIT200 Diver
  4. Setting-Up the Cordless Internet Telephony Kit

Downloading the Skype Software

Step 1:
Download Skype.

Step 2:
Install the Skype software on the computer. For instructions, refer to the Skype documentation.

Downloading the CIT200 Driver

Step 1:
Download the latest driver available for the CIT200. To go to the Linksys Downloads page, click here. Select the model number of your Cordless Internet Telephony Kit, then click the arrow button or press Enter.

Step 2:
Click GET DOWNLOADS to go to the download driver and firmware page.
  



Step 3:
Select the latest version of your hardware driver that are available in the download list.
 



Step 4:
Click Download to download the driver.

Step 5:
Click Save in the File Download dialog box that appears. In the Save As dialog box, choose a location for the file like the Desktop and click Save. When the download is complete, click Close, if prompted.

Step 6:
If the driver file you have downloaded is in zip format, double-click the zip file and extract its contents to a single folder or to the Desktop.

NOTE: You will need to use a utility to open and extract files from the ZIP file archive such as WinZip®. To download WinZip®, visit http://www.winzip.com. You can also use the built-in unzipping features of Windows XP to unzip the contents from the archive.

Installing the CIT200 Driver

Step 1:
Open the folder which contains the extracted files and double-click setup_eng.

Step 2:
Once the InstallShield Wizard appears, click Next.

Step 3:
When the License Agreement appears, select I accept the terms in the license agreement then click Next.

Step 4:
Click Finish to exit the wizard.

Setting-Up the Cordless Internet Telephony Kit

Step 1:
Make sure the Base Station is connected to your PC’s USB port.

Step 2:
Start the Skype software and login to your Skype account.

Step 3:
Start the USB driver by double-clicking on the Linksys Cordless Internet Telephony Kit icon on your desktop if it is not already started.

Step 4:
Once both Skype and the Base Station are active, the CIT200 is ready for use. Your current Skype online status should be shown on the Handset’s display screen.
