How to enable Rogue AP Detection on your Linksys Wireless-AC Access Point

A Rogue AP is an access point that has been installed on a secure network without explicit authorization from a system administrator. Rogue access points pose a security threat because anyone with access to the premises can ignorantly or maliciously install an inexpensive wireless WAP device that can potentially allow unauthorized parties to access the network.

The Rogue AP Detection feature of your Linksys Wireless-AC Access Point is used to detect unexpected or unauthorized access point installed in a secure network environment.

Follow the steps below to use this feature.
Step 1:
Access your Linksys Wireless-AC Access Point’s web-based setup page. For instructions, click here.

Step 2:
Under the Configuration tab, click Wireless and select Rogue AP Detection.

Step 3:
Select the desired radio from the list. Radio 1 is for 2.4 GHz while Radio 2 is for 5 GHz.

Step 4:
On the Rogue AP Detection section, check Enable.

NOTE: The access point can perform an RF scan on all channels on each radio to detect all access points in the vicinity of the network. If Rogue APs are detected, they are shown on the Rogue detection table.
