Unable to log on to the Linksys wireless range extender's web-based setup page

Accessing your Linksys wireless range extender's web-based setup page allows you to configure your advanced settings.  If you encounter problems accessing it, this can be due to the following reasons:
  • Connection to the device is not established
  • The range extender is wirelessly connected to your network but it’s not detecting the internet connection from your network
Before you begin, make sure that you have tried accessing your Linksys range extender’s web-based setup page using its IP address or through the network map feature on your computer.  For step-by-step instructions on how to do this, click here.

Perform the following steps below if you are having problems accessing the Linksys wireless range extenders’ web-based setup page:

1. Check if your computer is connected to the range extender's Wi-Fi®

Make sure that you are connected to the Wi-Fi name of your range extender.  To check, click on your computers’ Wireless Utility and it will display the SSID which your computer is connected to.  If you are not connected to the range extender’s SSID, select the SSID on the list of available networks, enter the network password and click Connect or Join.

Once connected, access the range extender’s web-based setup page.  For instructions, click
here.  If you are using Linksys RE7000, click here.  If you are using Linksys RE6250 or Linksys RE6350, click here.

 2. Check the indicator light of the range extender

The indicator light will help you identify the status of the extender.  Check your product's User Guide to confirm if the range extender is connected to the network.

 3. Powercycle the range extender

Disconnect and reconnect the range extender from the power source.  Wait until the Power LED on the range extender is ready (Check the product’s User Guide to determine when the range extender is ready to access).

4. Check the computer’s connectivity to the device

ping test can trace the communication between the computer and the range extender.  To ping the range extender, you will need to obtain its IP address.  To learn about ping test, click here.  If your range extender is not yet configured, its default IP address is 192.168.1.1.  Otherwise, you need to determine the extender’s IP address through the DHCP Client Table on your router.

NOTE:  If all the steps above failed, try to disable any security software on your computer before accessing the range extender’s web-based setup page.

5. Reset the device to factory defaults

NOTE:  Resetting your range extender will restore its factory settings and you will need to run the Setup CD again or manually set up your range extender.

Press and hold the Reset button of your range extender for five to 10 seconds or until the LED starts blinking.  For complete instructions on how to reset your Linksys wireless range extender to factory default settings, click here
