Upgrading the firmware of the PLW400 through the web-based setup page

Upgrading the firmware of the Linksys PLW400 Powerline AV Wireless Network Extender can resolve some connectivity issues using the device.  You can upgrade the firmware of the PLW400 through its web-based setup page or using the Powerline AV Utility that came with it.

This article will guide you in upgrading the firmware of the PLW400 through the web-based setup page.  To upgrade the firmware using the Powerline AV Utility, click here.

NOTE:  Before you proceed with the steps, download the firmware of the PLW400 from the Linksys Support Site and save it in your computer.  For instructions on how to download the firmware, click here.

Step 1:
Using a computer that is hardwired to the PLW400, access the web-based setup page of your PLW400.  To learn how, click here.

IMPORTANT:  Upgrading the firmware using a wireless connection is not recommended since the process can be interrupted if connectivity issues will arise during the upgrade.

Step 2:
On the setup page, click Administration > Firmware Upgrade.

Step 3:
Click the Browse... button and locate the file that you have downloaded earlier then click Start Upgrade.

Step 4:
There will be a pop-up message which indicates that the upgrade has been successful.  Click Continue.

Step 5:
Unplug the PLW400 from the power outlet and re-plug after 10 seconds to complete the upgrade process.

You now have successfully upgraded the firmware of your PLW400.
