The WAG310G is a Wireless-G ADSL2+ Gateway with VoIP. The Gateway enables you to access the Internet via Wireless connection or via one of its switch ports. It also connects to the Public Switched Telephone Network which is the network that traditional phone service uses so you can make calls using the traditional service or voice over IP (VoIP). You can also use the Gateway to share resources such as computers and storages.

The default IP Address is The username and the password is both admin

Security Supported

1. What is the default SSID broadcast by WAG310G?

The default SSID is “linksys” followed by the last four digits of the Router’s wireless MAC address. 

2. How many security modes does WAG310G support?

The Router supports six security modes: WPA-Personal, WPA2-Personal, WPA-Enterprise, WPA2-Enterprise, WEP or Disabled.

1. What LEDs does the WAG310G have?

POWER - Green. The POWER LED lights up when the Gateway is powered on. It flashed during self-test. The LED becomes red when it’s malfunctioning. 

ETHERNET LAN 1-4 - Green. These numbered LEDs correspond with the numbered ports on the Gateway's back panel. These LEDs serve two purposes. The LED lights up when the Router is connected to a device through the corresponding port. If the LED is continuously lit, the Gateway is connected to a service through that port. It flashes to indicate network activity over that port.

ETHERNET WAN/LAN 5 - Green. These WAN/LAN 5 LEDs correspond with WAN/LAN 5 port and serves two purpose. If the LED is continuously lit, the Gateway is successfully connected to a service through that port. It flashes to indicate network activity over that port.                                              

WIRELESS Activity - Green. The Activity LED lights up when the wireless feature is enabled. It flashes when the Gateway is sending or receiving data over the wireless network.

WIRELESS SECURITY - Green/Red. The security LED lights up when wireless security is enabled. It flashes during the Wi-Fi protected setup process. The LED becomes red when wireless security is disabled.

USB - Green. The USB LED lights up when a USB device is connected through the USB port. It flashes to indicate USB activity.

Phone 1-2 - Green. Phone 1 or 2 LED lights up when a phone is connected to the corresponding port at the Gateway’s back panel. The LED flashes when the phone is being used.

Line - Green. The Line LED lights up when the Gateway is connected to Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) through the port. Flashes when the phone line is in use.

DSL - Green. The DSL LED lights up when there is a DSL connection. It flashes when the Gateway is establishing ADSL connection.

INTERNET - Green/Red. The Internet LED lights up when the Gateway is connected to the Internet. It flashes to indicate network activity over the Internet port. The LED becomes red when the Internet connection fails.


1. I can't receive the SSID, what should I do?

You should check the following items:

  • The router’s power - Check the router’s power. If it’s not on, connect the power adapter to the router's power port, and then plug the power adapter into a power outlet.
  • The SSID broadcast option – Wired a computer to the router. Access the router’s Web UI (Web User Interface) and check SSID broadcast option. If the option is set to disable, enable it.
  • The wireless adapter - Check your wireless adapter if it supports 802.11g, 802.11b, or 802.11N protocol. If your wireless adapter doesn’t support any of the protocols, change your wireless adapter to make sure these protocols are supported.

Firmware Upgrade  

1. How do I upgrade the firmware of the WAG310G?

Access the router’s Web UI (Web User Interface). Go to Administration Tab > Firmware Upgrade. Select the file to upgrade by using the Browse button and then click Upgrade. Do not reset or power cycle the router while upgrading in progress.

2. What Internet browser can I use with the WAG310G?

Netscape 4.7 or higher and Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher.                                                              

3. What is Diagnostics and what is it used for?

Diagnostics is used to check Internet connection and network connectivity using DOS commands such as "ping" and "tracert".

4. What is the Port Forwarding?

Port Forwarding allows you to set up public services on your network such as web servers, ftp servers, e-mail servers, or other specialized Internet applications. 

5. Which dynamic route protocol does the WAG310G support?

RIP/RIPv2 dynamic route protocol.

6. What is the Port Triggering?

Port Triggering will forward port based on the incoming port specified. Check with your software application to find out what is necessary to enter in these fields. (You can set a maximum of 10 rules)

7. What is Wireless Mac Filter and what is it used for?

Wireless access can be filtered by using the MAC addresses of the wireless devices transmitting within your network’s radius.
